Is there a chain, and what is the vendor doing onwards?

Why? Because it can affect how quickly, or slowly, the sale can move.

If the vendor is buying another property, their sale may depend on that purchase going through too. And if that purchase depends on another sale, you could be part of a longer chain.

A short chain, no chain, or a vendor who already has somewhere to go can often mean a smoother process.

A longer chain can mean more moving parts, more delays, and more risk of something falling through.

It does not mean you should avoid the property, but it does mean you should know what position you are getting into before making an offer.
