🥾 13.1 MILES. ONE GREAT CAUSE. AND YOUR DONATION GOES EVEN FURTHER.

This Saturday, I’ll be joining the Future Perfect team to take on a 13.1-mile charity walk through the Peak District in support of the Openwork Foundation.

It’s going to be a challenging day — 13.1 miles across the Peak District is definitely more than a gentle Saturday stroll! — but it’s all for a fantastic cause.

And there’s an extra reason to support us…

Future Perfect will be matching the donations we raise, and Openwork will provide an additional 50% uplift. 🙌

So whatever you’re able to donate, your support will go even further and help us make an even bigger difference.

Whether it’s £5, £10, £20 or whatever you can spare, every donation is genuinely appreciated. And if you’re not able to donate, sharing the fundraising page would be a huge help too.

Eight of our team are walking 13.1 miles across the Peak District this Saturday.

It starts in Edale. Andrew Dix, Mark Firkin, Morgan Wilson, Keelan Heath, Mortgages with Tom at Future Perfect Financial Solutions, Alex Mullen-Hughes, Mike Mullen-Hughes and Janine Larner are taking on the Openwork Foundation Peak District Challenge to raise money for charities working in our communities. Our target is £2,500.

Last year's challenge helped fund a £7,500 grant to Beating Time, which supports people leaving prison to find work and rebuild their lives. This year the Openwork Foundation is supporting Zoe's Place Baby Hospice in Coventry among others.

If you would like to support the team, the donation page is below. Every bit helps.

We insure our phones, cars and even our hobbies... 📱

But what about the income that pays for it all?

It's worth thinking about how you'd manage financially if you couldn't work for a while.

YOUR HOME MAY BE REPOSSESSED IF YOU DO NOT KEEP UP REPAYMENTS ON YOUR MORTGAGE.
Your mortgage deal ends in six months. Is it too early to start looking?
No — it can actually be a sensible time to start preparing.
Beginning the conversation early can give you time to:
✓ Review how your circumstances have changed
✓ Compare staying with your current lender against moving elsewhere
✓ Check your current deal for any early repayment charges
✓ Understand what your future payments could look like
✓ Get any documents organised before they are needed

Starting early does not mean you have to make an immediate decision, and it does not guarantee that a particular product can be secured six months in advance. Availability, rates and lender timescales can all vary.

The aim is simply to avoid leaving everything until your current deal is about to end.

Does your mortgage deal finish within the next six months? Send me a message and we can start reviewing your position.

The lowest mortgage rate isn't always the cheapest deal. 💷

There's more to compare than just the headline rate. Looking at the whole picture could save you money.

🥾 We’re taking on the Peaks for a cause that matters.

On 12th September, we’ll be heading into the Peak District to take on a half marathon charity walk in support of The Openwork Foundation.

That’s 13.1 miles through the Peaks — so it’s definitely going to be a tough day on the legs! But every mile will be worth it if we can help raise money for such a brilliant cause.

Even better, The Openwork Partnership will uplift every donation by 50% — so for every £10 donated, £15 goes towards the charity. 🙌

If you’re able to support us, any donation — big or small — would mean a huge amount and will help make every step count.

💙 Please donate if you can, and feel free to share this post to help us spread the word.

3 weeks after putting protection in place, he fractured his knee playing football.
A client of mine had recently gone back self-employed after spending a period in employed work.
With a mortgage to pay, a family to support and regular weekend football, we had a conversation about what would happen if he couldn't work.
Like many people, he'd never had protection before because he never thought he'd need it.
Together we arranged a combination of cover to help protect his income and provide support if an accident affected his ability to work.
Just 3 weeks later, he suffered a serious knee injury, including ACL damage and a fracture while playing football.
As a result, he received:
✅ £2,000 from fracture cover
✅ £1,000 from accident cover
✅ Ongoing income protection payments while unable to work
That's over £3,000 in lump-sum payments, plus income protection benefits, from cover that cost him just £24 per month.
The reality is that most people don't expect injuries or illness to happen to them.
Until they do.
This is a real client story. Individual circumstances and outcomes will vary.
