🏠 LANDLORDS – NEW RENTAL REGISTRATION RULES ARE COMING

If you’re a landlord in England, now is the time to start getting prepared.

As part of the next phase of the Renters’ Rights Act 2025, the Government is introducing a new “Register your rental property” service.

📅 The service starts rolling out from 15 December 2026, with registration deadlines being phased across England.

💷 The cost will be £65 per property, per year.

Landlords will need to register themselves and each applicable rental property and provide information including:

🏡 Property address and type
🛏️ Number of bedrooms
👥 Number of occupants
💷 Rent and payment frequency
🔥 Gas safety information
⚡ Electrical safety information
🌱 EPC information
📋 Relevant HMO, additional or selective licensing information

Using a letting agent doesn't remove the landlord's responsibility to register. Your agent may be able to help provide certain information, but the landlord remains responsible for the registration.

📅 When do you need to register?
The deadlines depend on where your property is located:

West Midlands – 14 March 2027
East of England – 14 April 2027
East Midlands – 14 May 2027
South East – 14 June 2027
Yorkshire & Humber – 14 July 2027
North West – 14 August 2027
North East – 14 September 2027
London – 14 October 2027
