Some more wonderful comments in our guest book from a week or so ago, this time left by a lovely couple Lyn and Rog who last stayed at Churchtown Cottage in 1972 😳!!

I took some old photos of the cottage down to show them, which is how I first remember it when I was a child before it was renovated. Prior to that upstairs had 2 bedrooms and no bathroom …. the little building on the front was the outside loo and there was just a shower in one of the bedrooms. You had to have a wash and clean your teeth in the kitchen sink!! Downstairs was all open plan no hallway or separate lounge or kitchen area.

Things have changed somewhat since then …. thank goodness!

It was lovely to chat and remember with them. The photos have got my little brother (in the garden), and my lovely Grandpa (sat indoors) 😊

For those who have never heard of or experienced the Crantock Bale Push, here’s a few photos from last Friday night.

A fabulous village event, fundraising money for lots of local charities and a great time had my all; kids, ladies, mixed and men’s teams can all have a go.

Churchtown Cottage is still available when next years Bale Push will be on (always the 2nd Friday in September), so if you want a go at pushing (teams of 4) or just to sit and watch the world (and some bales) go by from the comfort of the cottage garden, get in touch and reserve the week now!! 🍻

As we approach the second Friday in September - many of us in Crantock know what this means ….. it’s BALE PUSH time!!

If you don’t know about the Crantock Bale Push, here’s some snippets from this years magazine to fill you in.

They have raised thousands for various local charities by organising a truly spectacular and unique event for the last 26 years!

It’s an evening not to miss and what’s more Churchtown Cottage is on the route of the ‘Open’ course, so book with us and you can sit in the comfort of the cottage garden watching Bales go by, or nip out to the pubs and mingle with the crowds (of which there are many). Either way you’re guaranteed a great night!!

It’s almost feels like one of those an ‘Endless Summers’ and if you believe the news next year might be even warmer 😳😳😳

Over the last week we have seen some welcomed patches of the old wet stuff and while the garden at the cottage is still somewhat dry, there are some little flowers still hanging in there trying to brighten up the corners and beds 🌼🌺🌸
