Cresselly has been in the Allen family since it was built in 1769. and is steeped in a history of country sports. The house is situated at the head of a long, broad valley and faces west with its wonde
rful light. The old family estate stretches out almost as far as the eye can see, with views across acres of gently sloping 'park like' paddocks, fields and woodlands towards the Cleddau Estuary. This great waterway winds its way from Milford Haven past fishing villages and towns, the castles of Pembroke and Carew, and on to the east and north. The house is one of Pembrokeshires rare gems which, until now, has only been open to the public for a short period during the summer for tours of the more public rooms. Behind the almost austere stone facade lies a home of great warmth and charm. The beautifully proportioned Georgian rooms manage to combine a gracious elegance with an almost quirky sense of fun, and comfortable luxury rarely found in any country house hotel or B&B. The bedrooms and bathrooms have been lovingly restored and furnished with many of the original pieces of furniture that have stood in the house for 100's of years. The gardens offer space to wander along paths leading invitingly through woods, or sit quietly with a book or paints, or simply enjoy the peace. There is a 2 acre walled kitchen garden currently under restoration. In time, much of the produce used in the house will be grown here. A simply wonderful place from which to explore this western tip of the British isles, which is Pembrokeshire!
