Dartmouth Regatta – Special Announcement

We’re thrilled to unveil an exciting new addition for this year’s Regatta 181 … a dedicated Viewing Platform to observe the Submarine buried under Coronation Park!

Following extensive research and monitoring in collaboration with the University of Plymouth’s Department of Geophysics, we’re installing a purpose-built, temporary platform so visitors can enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime sight of ‘The Dartmouth Submarine’.

Leading expert Professor Hedda Schulze Neeson-Tors, visiting specialist in Maritime Archeology, explains:

“What we are dealing with is a rare case of fluvial sediment concealment. With optimal elevation and careful viewing technique, structural outlines of the vessel may be perceived. With a bit of patience, visitors may even spot the periscope.”

Excavation in Coronation Park is set to commence in July, with the Platform opening just in time for Regatta week. Visitors will be able to view the submarine free of charge.

Wow the sweet smell of the flowering Jasmine in the swimming pool at Fingals is overwhelming- shame it always flowers in the quietest time of year. All the better for the few to indulge in it!

At Fingals the pool is in our greenhouse where a Mediterranean fan palm thrives among an array of exotic plants - avocados, ficus benjamina, bird of paradise, banana plants, etc., together with sweet smelling jasmine. No fake plants here.
