🏠 Big changes are coming to EPCs in 2026!

Thinking about selling or letting your property?

You might have heard that Energy Performance Certificates are getting a major upgrade. Starting in late 2026, the way we measure energy efficiency is moving beyond just a single letter grade.

We'll be looking at four key areas:

Fabric performance (how well your home keeps heat in)
Heating system efficiency
Smart technology readiness
Estimated energy costs

Don't worry—if you have a valid EPC, it stays valid for its full 10-year term!

But if you’re planning improvements or a future sale, understanding these new metrics now can put you ahead of the curve.

🏡 Want to make your home warmer and cut down on energy bills for FREE? 💡

The Government’s Warm Homes: Local Grant is now open for applications in England! If your home qualifies, your local council will arrange and pay for energy-saving upgrades—meaning you won't pay a penny.

👋 What could you get?
Depending on what your home needs, you could receive free upgrades like:
Wall, loft, and underfloor insulation
Air source heat pumps
Solar panels
Smart energy controls

📋 Who is eligible?
You may qualify if:
You live in England.

You own your home OR rent from a private landlord.

Your home has an energy rating (EPC) of D, E, F, or G.

Your household income is £36,000 a year or less (you may still qualify if you earn more but live in certain postcode areas or receive certain benefits!).

Funding is limited and allocated through local councils, so it’s best to check your eligibility as soon as possible.

🚨 Got an empty property or a sale lagging? Check your EPC.

A lot of landlords and sellers treat the Energy Performance Certificate as just another piece of annoying paperwork. But right now, it’s one of the first things a serious buyer or tenant looks at to calculate their monthly bills.

If your certificate has expired—or your score is lower than it should be—it actively stalls your progress.

We don't mess around with complicated jargon. We provide quick, straightforward, and fully compliant assessments to get your paperwork sorted so you can get your property moving.

🏡 Attention Darwen Landlords & Homeowners:
Legally, we have to tell you that an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is a vital document that measures the energy rating of your property against building compliance standards.

Between us? It’s basically a report card that judges your house for still living in the 1990s.

If your property is currently sporting ancient halogen bulbs, a loft hatch that lets in a gale, or a boiler older than the original Oasis lineup, your score is going to take a hit.

Renters and buyers are looking at energy costs closer than ever right now—don't let a bad grade scare them off.
Let’s get those quick wins sorted and get your paperwork up to date.

⚡ Open slots available this week in Darwen and surrounding areas.

🚨 Landlord Myth Buster: "My property has an old EPC, so I'm fine to rent it out." 🛑

Not necessarily!

While an Energy Performance Certificate (Certificate) lasts for 10 years, Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES) mean your property must score at least an E rating to be legally let to tenants.

If your certificate is a few years old and you've made no upgrades, or if you are aiming for a higher rating to attract premium tenants, it might be time for a fresh look.

A poor rating doesn't just breach regulations—it actively scares away renters who are terrified of high utility bills.
