3 signs you are living through a wounded inner child in your romantic relationship (and what to do about it)
1. You are terrified your partner will leave you.
They tell you they love you and show their commitment to you, but deep down you just can't trust it. You are waiting for the day to come when they bail on the relationship and ditch you.
This is showing an abandonment wound. Perhaps a parent left the family home and rarely saw you, or they were physically present but completely emotionally unavailable to you.
2. You have jealousy issues
They have never given you reason not to trust them and you want to be able to trust them. But you feel the green-eyed monster appear every time they are around an attractive person, praise or complement someone else or even when they get attention themselves.
This is showing a self-worth issue.
Perhaps a parent favoured a sibling over you or cared more about their romantic partner than they cared about you You were always criticised for your mistakes and never received praise or compliments. You don't feel good enough, so the good in others becomes a threat to you.
3. You are submissive to your partner and always put their needs first, at a detriment to yourself.
Your relationship is heavily centered around their wants, needs, dreams and aspirations. They generally get what they want and you just go along with it even if you don't want to. Your feelings, dreams and aspirations are rarely considered and if you challenge them, you end up believing that you are selfish for wanting what you want.
This is a people pleasing issue. It's likely that you learned as a child that to get the love and validation you wanted, appeasing the needs of your parents was key. Do as you are told and don't make a fuss and then they will love you.
All of this is centered around conditioning you had as a child and a huge sign that your wounded inner child is crying out for your love. You must reparent and nurture your inner child in order to change the conditioning. You are both worthy of all the love joy and abundance that will follow ❤️🩹🧸✨️
