Selection of Summer Projects!

A busy summer with several patio's laid, but also many other projects undertaken in a variety of locations:

- replacing of gravel boards and fence panels in Bawtry
- installation of UPVC fascia panels to create a clean, neat ceiling under an outdoor "lean to" canopy
- removal of rotten fence panels and replacing with new, matching fence panels in Thorne
- w**ding and relaying of Cotswold Cream Limestone chippings, including replacing of w**d membrane to prevent further incursion of w**ds
- repair of rotten fascia and strengthening of the roof of a summer house in Wadworth
- regrouting of existing patio in Bessacarr, including the removal of the original grout and full jetwash and cleaning of the slabs
- construction of small fence, with entrance gate at the front of a property in Edlington
- rebuilding of a small garden wall in Sprotborough including re-affixing coping stones and pointing up the brickwork

Three-sided Patio Project!

This lovely Raveena Indian Sandstone patio in Rossington was created completely to the customer's requirements, with an extended main patio across the back of the house which incorporate a path to a smaller patio area at the back of the garden. An additional patio was created in a lovely sunspot slightly away from the main area - just for some peaceful relaxing alone!

Full dig out of all the area, plus removal of existing slabs accompanied the lowering of a manhole cover to incorporate a less intrusive recessed cover, and finally the whole patio was edged with a Raj Green Sandstone Cobble Sett to create a traditional look to the slabs.

Winter Projects

Quite a range of projects completed over the latter part of 2023:
- Dig out and laying of concrete paving slabs to match existing to provide a hard-wearing patio area in front of a customer's summer house in Finningley.
- Dig out and laying of concrete slab base for summer house in Worksop to be erected, then painting of the summer house and installation of some raised privacy trellis to complete customer's requirements.
- Installation of approximately 30m of fencing using customer's existing wooden panels together with long-lasting concrete posts and gravel boards for a cost-effective fencing project in Bawtry.
- Replacing existing floor tiles with a much improved "chessboard" effect in the entrance porch to Ward Brothers carpet shop in Doncaster.

Together with several garden maintenance jobs, the winter has been busy so far!

Steps Project

Complete transformation of the frontage of a house in Birdwell. Decking removed and replaced with some steps constructed from Rippon Buff Indian Sandstone and matching brick, with Plaspave Sorrento Blocks and Cosmo Setts to match existing block paving.

- Decking removed and disposed of without the need for an expensive skip
- Existing concrete broken up and re-used as hardcore
- Brick retaining walls built to take account of sloping contours of existing garden and block paving
- Sandstone paving laid to create full width steps in line with existing block paving
- Block paving laid utilising matching blocks and cobble setts

Some Recent Smaller Projects!

Several smaller projects completed over the summer:
- Laminate flooring throughout the ground floor of a buy to let property in Edlington
- Shed re-felted to prolong the life of the shed in Balby
- Complete redecoration and carpeting of a flat in Denaby Main
- Fence and gate replaced in back garden of a buy to let property in Edlington

Replacement Decking Project

Fantastic project replacing some decking that was past it's best with a lovely Kandla Grey stone patio edged with sleepers to fit precisely into the existing artificial lawn. Flamenco decorative stone and bespoke lighting added to create a great social area for the customer to enjoy!

- Decking removed and disposed of (without additional cost of skip)
- Levels increased with Type 1 MOT
- Sleepers installed in line with existing garden context
- Existing surrounds cleaned and painted to match original situation
- Kandla Grey Indian Sandstone laid, with ark grey resin grout to finish
- Decorative stone and pillar solar lighting installed to create a relaxing environment for socialising.

Extension Surround Project

Different type of job this time, surrounding a new extension with some classic Autumn Brown Indian Sandstone and creating an "ironing patio" for the customer!
- tree stump/roots dug out and area levelled
- Aco drainage installed below damp-proof course and integrated into existing drainage systems
- two recessed manhole covers installed to replace existing ones
- slabs laid and grouted with a Buff resin compound

Fence Projects

Two separate fences completed recently - both completely different from one another!

The first required a stepped fence to compensate for a sloping garden, with concrete gravel boards supporting "hit and miss" fence panels, with 9ft concrete posts to ensure the fence remains solid. Existing fence, conifers and ivy removed prior to installation.

The second was to create a screen for a garden, using all wooden products, comprising of squared trellis, with a bespoke gate created using the trellis to continue the effect. Again a sloping garden required different lengths of fence posts all capped with squared trim.

Winter Patio Project

Lovely 3-tiered Indian Sandstone patio in Rippon Buff with a buff grout, edged with natural sleepers to fit with existing artificial lawn.
- existing flagstones and block paving removed and re-utilised in the build
- recessed manhole cover installed, raised to fit with patio level
- existing rockery edging to border integrated into patio effect
- patio edged with Flamenco decorative stones to ensure effective drainage

Summer Projects - double ended garden project!

Full conversion of a garden at both ends with a subtle Raj Green Indian Sandstone patio created, edged with natural sleepers and a Forest Green decorative stone at one end and a low-maintenance bark area, edged with natural sleepers and containing a weather-proof shed at the other.
- existing tarmac patio area removed and utilised as hard-core base reducing costs for customer
- two-tier patio created to incorporate garden gate and sentimental border area
- gate and removable fence constructed to complete finish around existing conservatory
- lawn repaired and levelled with surplus turf, and borders created at either side to create a separate planting area
- rotten, wooden shed removed and replaced with low-maintenance shed
- wasted, overgrown space in garden replaced with neat and tidy decorative bark edged with natural sleepers with convenient path for garden equipment to be brought out easily and without obstacles

Summer Projects - Drive Extension

Having two cars and one parking spot can create problems on a modern housing estate, so creating a new parking space matching the existing block paving has proved to be massively beneficial in this project:
- turf and topsoil removed and disposed of
- type-1 MOT hardcore installed and levelled
- grit sand levelled and compacted to form a sub-base for the blocks
- blocks individually installed in matching pattern to existing driveway
- kiln-dried sand brushed into blocks to create solidity for drive
- decorative stone finish to form border

Summer Projects

It's been a busy summer, so little posted recently, but here are a few of the projects completed. The first was a collapsed set of steps and old bamboo patch refurbished with a lovely set of sleeper steps that can be used for pots as well as access.
- 20mm pea gravel added to tidy and cover broken paving
- small decorative wooden gate added to side of property
- existing patio re-laid to remove potential trip hazards
