Barbara particularly appreciates the open-plan kitchen-diner layout at her Lyndhurst Park apartment - something that was new to her after 28 years in a bungalow.

If you're in Lyndhurst this month, the New Forest Heritage Centre is showcasing an Outside Inside, Unthreading The Carnival Exhibition featuring works from artist Deborah Birch. The exhibition presents an installation of textile masks reflecting on her Romani heritage and connections to the New Forest.

The Heritage Centre is a two-minute walk from Lyndhurst Park, right in the centre of the village. You've got access to culture, exhibitions, and community events without having to drive anywhere.

The centre also hosts family events during school holidays, temporary photography and art exhibitions throughout the year. Worth checking their schedule regularly if you're thinking about moving to the area and want to know what's going on locally.

Sue and her family knew they wanted to be close to the New Forest. After two years of searching, they discovered Lyndhurst Park online.

"The New Forest is really where my heart is. So it is exactly what we wanted. I have memories of running around the forest as children, and now I have children of my own."

Based in Switzerland and Cornwall, Sue returns for most of the school holidays and hopes to increase visits as her children get older.

"The children love it. And that's so important for us, because they are English so we want them to feel comfortable and to know England, and to have somewhere they can go to as young adults."

Security was one of the key features they were looking for. "The apartments have secure entry door fobs or codes, which helped reinforce our decision that this really was meant for us."

For Sue, this represents much more than a property purchase. "It's more than a holiday home to us. It's a family base that the whole family will be using."

The design features Gothic, Victorian and Georgian architectural elements - the Gothic element with the large stone feature windows will be a real standout on the entrance into Lyndhurst.

After 28 years in the same property, Barbara was getting tired of the maintenance and garden upkeep. Her daughter, who lives locally in Lyndhurst, suggested she take a look at Lyndhurst Park.
