Homes away from home (soppy personal post warning).
I'm a firm believer in every home having a story - whether it's kids learning to walk along the landing or visiting Grandparents for Christmas, and it's these stories that make the real difference in selling homes. Not just floorplans, Farrow and Ball choices and knowing how old the boiler is when the viewers ask.
Not all homes are four walls and a roof however. And whilst my main home is Dove Holes, there's a little island 1000 miles away that holds an equally special place. The site of nearly 20 family holidays and the associated memories of playing on the beach, many games of pool, meals at the Restaurante Miranda (without question the best restaurant on the planet and well worth a visit if your travels ever bring you here) and rockpooling with Mum and Dad.
It's only fitting we decided on this being their resting place in the sun as they'd always dreamed of, and I try to pop back every now and then to put the world to rights and keep them up to date, so I've taken a change of scenery for a couple of days to do so.
Imagine the pride in arriving today - my first visit since both laying them to rest and starting my own business in trying to help people's home moves go more smoothly - to be able to still work remotely all this distance from home and agree an offer to get another High Peak homeowner moving - all under their watchful guise from the shores of the Balearics.
Still connected. Still responding. Still at home in some sense.
For those of you wondering what a 'personal' estate agent means - it's this.
Property. Sold. Properly.
