South Shore Lodge – a leisure complex sitting at the heart of Perthshire Caravans’ Loch Earn Leisure Park with stunning views of Loch Earn and surrounding hills.

We successfully negotiated the process of gaining planning approval from Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park authority, which involved providing detailed design statements and associated supporting information.

The amenities complex, which is built on the remains of a former steading building, includes a restaurant, bar, fitness suite, family games room and children’s play area.

We were pleased to take part in two successful and well-attended community consultations last week in Kinloch Rannoch to discuss our concept designs for Rannoch Community Trust's proposed development of 12 affordable homes and five serviced plots for private housing.

The project aims to provide much-needed affordable homes for locals who live and work in Rannoch and to attract economically active residents necessary to sustain a viable community.

We’re looking forward to continuing our collaboration with Rannoch Community Trust, Dunalastair Estate and the Communities Housing Trust as the project progresses.

We enjoyed supporting Nevis Landscape Partnership with their invasive species removal day in stunning Glen Nevis this week. Activities involved removing non-native Sitka spruce as part of a wider project to restore a natural and healthy ecosystem. 🌲

The staff volunteering day forms part of our commitment to delivering local community benefits for our client Highlands and Islands Enterprise as part of our Inverness Campus contract.

Planning application submitted for a new one-and-a-half-storey dwelling set within the Hepburn Gardens Conservation Area.

The proposal subdivides the existing plot of an early 19th century C-listed former toll house located just outside St Andrews. The new house replaces a later garage structure and has been carefully designed to respond sensitively to Toll Cottage, its listed status, and the wider conservation area.

We’re very pleased to share that our Associate, Philip Levack, has been awarded RIAS Conservation Accreditation by The Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland.

Philip’s accreditation provides formal recognition of professional competence and assures clients and funding bodies that we have the specialist knowledge, skills and experience within our practice required to lead projects conserving Scotland’s built heritage - from monuments to listed buildings and historic structures.

With over 27 years’ experience in the UK construction industry, including work on Listed Buildings, Philip has delivered architectural services across a wide range of conservation projects including several award-winning schemes. An Associate Architect at Andrew Black Design since 2022, he is committed to the long-term stewardship of historic buildings through sensitive adaptation and sustainable regeneration.

Philip is currently overseeing the conversion of the Category B Listed former Dundee Tram Depot into the new Dundee Museum of Transport – a project that exemplifies the value of conserving and reinvigorating important historic buildings.

Exciting to be on site this week at the grade B listed Maryfield Tram Depot, as works begin to transform this historic building into the permanent home of Dundee Museum of Transport.

Dundee Plant Co Ltd are currently carrying out advanced demolition works, including the careful removal of the unsound roof from the 1913 and 1920 sections of the building.

More updates to follow as restoration, conservation and fit-out works begin on the 1901 and 1913 sections, which will form the core of the new museum.

Excellent news this week to see our client, Dundee Museum of Transport awarded an additional grant of £1.5m from the UK Government’s Community Regeneration Partnership.

The funding boost allows for the appointment of a main contractor to undertake the restoration and conservation works to convert the historic Grade B-listed Maryfield Tram Depot into a new permanent home for the museum.

We’re looking forward to continuing to work on this exciting project as works progress on site over the coming weeks! 🏗️
