On inspection of the property, it was evident that there was substantial damage to the property, and the existing tenant needed to vacate the property as a result.
As a standard practice, we have a process to follow, priority is making safe to the property, assessing the damage, raising a scope of work for the damaged areas, raise a building drying report and a drying program, we then invite the insurer to appoint their nominated Loss Adjuster and hold a site meeting. We manage a better outcome from the start of a claim.

Leak Detection Surveys.

Building Drying Restoration

This is from a project we are doing for a private client, this is the basement of the property.

We were appointed to carry out a full survey of the property as there were underlying issues with the room above the basement.

The basement was creating the issues to the above room so this needed to be addressed first.

Two weeks ago we set up a drying program to remove the moisture from the basement building fabric.

Week 1 (Beginning)
Relative Humidity was reading 87%
Reading from walls and floor were 99% to 65% saturated.
Moisture removed from the basement 315 litres (week ending)

Week 2
Relative Humidity was reading 49%
Readings from walls 29% floor 30%
4 areas 18.8% (now dry)
Moisture removed from the basement
210 litres (week ending)

We have remotely monitored the progress of this project, the temperature and relative humidity information was processed through software that was set up on our devises. We could adjust the temperature of the room to run in-line with the requirement of our dehumidifier equipment, we could reduce or add the air movement if required, all from my laptop as the project was 300 miles away. Modern technology at its best.

The cost of running this drying system is £8 per day running 24 hours a day.

Forecast is to end this drying process end of week 3 then phase two of the project will kick in to action.

What do I have to do as a policy holder?

You need to inform your insurance company that you have had an insurance loss! Then your ICM takes over and YOU the policy holder can carry on with your daily routine, your ICM has your corner.
