⭐️ Announcing our 2026 Charity Partner ⭐️

Sloswicke’s Almshouse Charity, here in Retford, is home to approximately 60 residents — many of them elderly, living independently but on very modest incomes. This Christmas, we want to give them a proper celebration. Something they can genuinely look forward to.

We are raising £2,500 — and here is the part we are most proud of: The Hive will match every single pound raised, pound for pound from our customers. Your £10 becomes £20. Your £5 becomes £10. The total fund will be £5,000.
We know times are tight. Even £2 or £3 makes a real difference when it is doubled and added to everything else being raised across the community. There is no minimum and no pressure — but if you are able to contribute, we would be so grateful.

Sloswicke's Almshouse Charity is thrilled to announce that it has received the Community Award in the 2025 Retford in Bloom competition.

The award recognizes the beautiful communal garden at the Charity's Union Street site, which was landscaped in 2022/3. The garden features level surfaces, private areas, and communal spaces, making it accessible and enjoyable for all residents. The original 9 cottages on the site were built in 1823, and the Charity has continued to adapt and improve the site over the years.

The residents of the Almshouses take great pride in cultivating the communal gardens, and their hard work has paid off with this award.

Thank you everyone that attended our open house on Heritage Day, there was a great turn out which kept our chairman very busy through out the day, giving tours and explaining who we are, what we do and how we play a part in the Retford community.
