Are you ready for a storm? Here are some tips to keep your home safe.

🌪️ Storm Éowyn is forecast bring some very strong winds across Scotland on Friday 24th Jan. A rare Red warning has been issued and should indicate how serious this will be. There is already widespread disruption to travel and preventative building closures.

Storms can bring havoc to our homes, especially roofing. Here are a few tips if you have an older property you are worried about:
📰 1. Check your insurance cover, important if you have any sensitive items such as antiques, new furnishing, carpets
🪣 2. Make sure you have buckets, plastic sheets, mops, old towels
🚘 3. Move vehicles away from sensitive roofs, trees to protect them from falling debris
🪟 4. Close windows securely, especially sky lights that may open
🗑️ 5. Take recycling bins inside, or put them in hut if you have one
🪂 6. Trampolines... Stick your address on it somewhere! Better still take it to bits to ground level ans strap it down with pegs, straps.
🕯️ 7. For those living rurally prepare for loss of power. Torches, power banks, camping stoves (if no gas supply), you should have to hand.
🪖 8. If you are out and about be vigilent for falling debris around buildings.

In the images we capture we constantly move between two lenses. Surveying the roof more widely in a systematic manner, down to making point inspections such as this to locate faults. Review and compilation of the data as a whole allows us to provide an estimate of repair costs for our customers.

In this case this pantile was the worst offender, but several more with vertical hairline cracks were also found in need of repair.
