Proof of a lost portrait – the search begins
Robert Burns (1759–1796) is conspicuously absent from the long list of prestigious sitters to Sir Henry Raeburn (1756–1823). Raeburn was Scotland’s foremost portrait painter in the late 1700s–early 1800s.

The November exhibition in the Art and Design Library is a group display by Edinburgh Photographic Society. The exhibition showcases a wide variety of work across a range of photographic genres – from portraiture, to nature, sport and landscape. Members of the society work with traditional techniques as well as creative digital photography, so the exhibition has something for everyone.
