Qmile Group has been named a finalist at the Scottish Home Awards 2026 in the Renovation of the Year category for our New Craig building! 🎉
Located at the heart of the Craighouse estate, the Category A-listed New Craig is a striking 19th Century Baronial style building.
Designed by renowned Scottish architect Sydney Mitchell, New Craig was completed in 1894 and now comprises 44 one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom conversion apartments across six floors.
All homes contain period features such as original fireplaces, ornate cornicing and stained-glass windows.
In addition, the building’s Great Hall today serves as an exclusive amenity for New Craig residents with its most distinguished features retained.
These include a barrel-vaulted ceiling, semi-circular clerestory windows, imposing chimneypieces, deep oak panelling and the series of oak Corinthian pilasters.
The renovation of New Craig and the wider Craighouse campus was guided by a masterplan rooted in high standards of sustainable design, prioritising environmental sensitivity, conservation of historic assets and best practice in urban design.
Existing buildings and landscape features were preserved and repurposed wherever possible, alongside extensive woodland restoration, the planting of almost 750 new trees and the creation of new green spaces and a community park. 🌳
As the centrepiece of a new residential community, New Craig represents the successful regeneration of a historically significant site, safeguarding its future while creating a vibrant place to live.
