Anyone watching the BBC Two series 'Pilgrimage' - of course, featuring Northumberland ! And even better, in the second programme, they stay a night in Harwood Forest which is just up the road from here.

The pilgrims continue their adventure in Durham and visit the 12th-century Norman cathedral, where they are introduced to the ancient pilgrim tradition of foot washing.

One of the things I love about Northumberland is the huge skies … you can see for miles … This is stopping on the road down from the Elsdon gibbet (a rather gruesome local landmark) but the views are stunning.

The photo is my garden path last May - full of bluebells and dandelions which I also love. An important early source of nectar for insects .. and such a glorious swathe of yellow. !
