🌿 Sorry for the lack of interaction during September! 🌿

It’s been a busy old month at Alpine Park, which is absolutely brilliant. We’ve loved welcoming so many new faces, as well as lots of our lovely returning guests. In fact, this week's guests have racked up a total of 68 stays between them! 🥰

We’ve now got some availability coming up from this Saturday, right through into October, including the October half term. So, if you fancy a little autumn escape to East Devon, there are still a few opportunities to grab a cottage. 🍂

And finally… as you can see, I’ve handed over the keys to the lawnmower back to Curtis! 🚜

It’s actually rather lovely to see green grass again!🌱

From Saturday Girl to Head of Sixth Form! 🧹➡️🎓

We know many of our lovely returning guests remember Helen from when we first took over at Alpine Park, so we thought you might like a little update on what she’s been up to.

Well… as many of you know, four years ago Helen finally hung up her duster 🧹😂 and left the family business to embark on a new career in teaching.

And today, we are incredibly proud and delighted to share that Helen starts her new role as Head of Sixth Form! 🎓✨

It seems only yesterday she was pulling her trolley around Alpine Park collecting towels, helping with changeovers and making beds

We couldn’t be prouder of how far she has come over the past four years. She has worked incredibly hard, and it has been wonderful watching her develop and progress in her teaching career.

As we approach the end of the school holidays, and after enjoying a fabulous summer, we just wanted to give you a little update on our availability. ☀️

We only have a couple of options available for next week, and September is filling up rather quickly too!

🍂August is apparently the new October !🍂

Blowing the leaves is not normally on Curtis's job list in August! But due to the recent drought our trees have decided they've had enough and getting into the Autumn spirit a little too early! 🤣

Thankfully we've had some rain this week, so I could be back to grass cutting duties on Monday! 🚜🌱😅

🌞🌑 Something special is happening in the skies this Wednesday! 🌑🌞

Apparently, we’re in for a partial solar eclipse here in East Devon, with Devon expected to see around 95% coverage.👀☀️

It takes us back to 1999, when we were lucky enough to be living in Cornwall for the famous total solar eclipse. 🌑✨

And did we get to see it? Of course not… it was cloudy! 😂☁️

So fingers crossed that Wednesday brings us clear skies. 🤞🌤️

If you’re staying with us at Alpine Park Cottages, it might be worth keeping an eye on the skies in the early evening.

⚠️ And please remember — never look directly at the sun. You need proper eclipse glasses or a safe viewing method. Sunglasses definitely won't do the job! 😎☀️

BRITAIN’S BEST ECLIPSE VIEWS ARE COMING TO DEVON! ☀️🌑✨

On Wednesday, the UK will witness its most dramatic solar eclipse since 1999 - and Devon is in the ultimate front-row seat! With up to 96% of the sun hidden behind the moon, you'll want a prime spot facing the western horizon as maximum eclipse hits at 7:16 PM.

For expert-led viewing with safe solar equipment, head to Lowry Cross in Yelverton (hosted by Plymouth Astronomical Society with free eclipse glasses) or Sidmouth’s Norman Lockyer Observatory.

Prefer a wide-open coastal backdrop? South Devon's Slapton Sands, Bantham, Bigbury, and Thurlestone sit right in the deepest-coverage zone, while North Devon's Saunton, Woolacombe, and Westward Ho! offer vast horizons perfect for the dropping sun.

For panoramic sky views away from town lights, the elevated tors of Dartmoor (Haytor, Hound Tor, Saddle Tor) and Exmoor's high plateaus (Dunkery Beacon, Holdstone Down, Brendon Common) deliver spectacular vantage points.

A day off with a difference today. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch at the Octagon in Exmouth. Belated 80th Birthday celebrations for my lovely parents. Delicious food, beautiful views. Great service. Highly recommend. 💕

Last week we welcomed guests from Australia 🇦🇺 and Malaysia 🇲🇾... proving that Alpine Park Cottages really does attract visitors from near and far! 🌍

When we did the changeover, we found the loveliest surprise waiting for us – a beautiful handwritten thank you note and these gorgeous fans. 🥹

Sometimes it’s the small things that remind us why we love what we do. To our lovely guests who left them – thank you, we were so touched by the kind gesture. ❤️

Typical isnt it? After weeks and weeks of sunshine without any rain, the minute they declare we are 'officially in draught' it rains☔️
