🏡 Moving Out? Here's How to Get Your Deposit Back 💷

If your tenancy deposit is protected with the Deposit Protection Service (DPS), claiming it back is quick and easy once your tenancy has ended.

✅ Step 1: Log in to your DPS account

Visit the official Deposit Protection Service (DPS) website and sign in using your email address and password.

Don't have your details? No problem – you can recover your Deposit ID or Repayment ID through the DPS website.

✅ Step 2: Request your repayment

Simply:
✔️ Select your tenancy
✔️ Click Request Repayment
✔️ Enter the amount you're claiming
✔️ Confirm your bank details and submit

✅ Step 3: Wait for your landlord or letting agent

They can:
• Approve your request ✅
• Suggest deductions
• Raise a dispute

🤔 Don't agree with deductions?

The DPS offers a FREE Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) service.

Make sure you keep evidence such as:
📸 Photos
📋 Check-in & check-out inventories
🧹 Cleaning receipts
📧 Emails or messages
📄 Your tenancy agreement

⏰ What if your landlord doesn't respond?

The DPS has procedures to help you recover your deposit if there's no response, so don't delay if you haven't heard back.

💷 Once both parties agree, your deposit is usually returned within 10 days.

We’re delighted to welcome Harrison Tarrant back to the Francis Louis team!

After taking a gap year travelling the world, Harrison has returned to begin the next chapter of his career with us.

Harrison previously spent two summers working within our lettings team while studying at university, and from day one we were impressed by his drive, professionalism and willingness to learn. It was clear he had a bright future ahead of him.

We’re now pleased to welcome Harrison into our front-end Sales & Lettings team, where he’ll be helping us build on the fantastic results our team continues to achieve across the South West.

What’s particularly rewarding is that we were able to support Harrison throughout his university years by providing flexible summer employment around his studies, and he’s now chosen to start his full-time career with Francis Louis.

This is exactly the pathway we’re passionate about creating. We believe in giving young people meaningful opportunities, helping them gain real-world experience, build confidence and develop successful careers within our business.

Investing in our community isn’t just something we say – it’s something we’ve done for years.

At Francis Louis, we’ve always been proud of our connection to the local community. For many years we’ve supported Cullompton Cricket Club, not only financially but by giving our time to help develop youth cricket.

One of the most rewarding things is now seeing those young players grow up and take their first steps into the workplace. Boys we remember as children are now joining our team for part-time and summer jobs, bringing enthusiasm, confidence and a fantastic work ethic.

We’re equally proud that this isn’t a one-off. We have around five young people who have now spent their third or fourth summer working with us, with several progressing into full-time careers after completing their studies.

Our support for local talent doesn’t stop there either. Other members of the cricket club now work alongside us as trusted contractors, providing specialist services including electrical work and professional cleaning.

Supporting young people, creating opportunities and investing in our local community has always been important to us, and it’s something we’re committed to continuing for many years to come.

When temperatures rise, keeping your home comfortable can feel like a challenge. The key is to treat your house like a thermos: keep the heat out during the day, then let cooler air circulate in the evening.

Block out the sunlight
Close curtains and blinds during the hottest parts of the day, particularly on south- and west-facing windows. Blackout curtains, shutters and reflective window film can also help reduce heat and glare.

Ventilate at the right time
Keep windows closed when it is hotter outside than inside. Open them early in the morning or later in the evening, creating a through-draught by opening windows on opposite sides of the property.

Reduce heat indoors
Avoid using the oven or hob during the hottest part of the day, switch off unnecessary lights and unplug electronics that generate heat. Salads, barbecues, microwaves and air fryers can all be cooler alternatives.

Make the most of your fans
Fans help circulate air and cool your body, even though they do not reduce the room temperature. During the evening, try pointing a fan towards an open window to push warm air outside.

Create a cooler sleeping environment
Keep bedroom curtains closed during the day, use lightweight cotton bedding and place a chilled water bottle or cool pack near your feet at night.
