Quite the transformation for this lean to conservatory that this customer inherited when they moved into their home.

We originally planned to reuse the existing structure, but when I start dismantling it, there was too much rotten wood and I had to take it all down and start again.

I constructed a new frame, a new roof and clad it all in UPVC panelling to give it a really fresh look.

The customer has furnished the space really nicely and the whole family loves their new outdoor indoor space.

One of the really nice aspects of my job is having a lasting positive impact to the quality of life for my customers. Something might be bothering them, they they can't do themselves and I have the opportunity to remove a burden or a worry from them so they can put that energy into a different area of their life.

A little glow up for this customer's bathroom.

Not every job needs to be a full rip out and reinstall. This customer wanted to swap out her sink and mirror to give the space a little freshen up. Along with scraping out the old grout on the shower floor tiling and replacing to make it feel a little cleaner again.

She was on a tight budget and very happy with the result.

These customers asked me to get involved with their shop conversion on the High Street in Exeter before Easter.

They were converting a previous tattoo shop into a barber shop, ready to start out on their own.

I MDF lined the walls and added a panelling effect along with a shelf to both rooms.

I also built a reception counter from scratch, and filled in an alcove before lining the whole wall that will be where the 2 cutting stations are situated.

There is also a customer toilet that was MDF lined and panel effect applied to as well.

I enjoyed this project, and really enjoyed helping these two superb gentlemen bring their vision for the next chapter of their lives into reality.

Their shop opens on Tuesday 2nd June, so if you're in need of a trim, Steady Hands on the High Street might just be your next call!

I pulled up an old rotten deck for this customer, the previous owner of the house had laid it directly on dirt, so it crumbled over years.
Instead of replacing it, they opted to extend the gravel to the front of the house.
I filled some of the void with MOT sub base as a cheaper material than gravel before spreading a good thick layer of gravel on top. All by hand, just me, myself, a barrow and spade. They are pleased with the end result.

This water butt was a quick little install. The customer had the perfect location for this water butt to go.
A couple of cuts with my oscillating saw and the diverter was added to the down pipe, a hole saw made quick work of adding the inlet fitting to the top of the water butt and it is good to go!

Acoustic panels seem to be really popular at the moment, and I enjoy installing them as they quickly transform a space with a big impact.

It has been a while since I posted some updates, so let's get back on this!
This customer wanted to make more of the space she had in this utility room. The worktop had previously been installed too low to easily get a washing machine underneath without taking off the top of the machine. So I trimmed the window sill and repositioned the worktop in line with it.
She also wanted her boiler to be boxed in my hidden as it is an eye sore, along with additional shelving to make more use of the space. Overall she is very happy with the end result, all being made from reclaimed pine (bed frame, old second hand furniture) and a lot more storage space.

T-shirt weather in February! Well... it rained towards the end of this job, so no dry day yet in Exeter this year when I did this job a week ago.
These boards on this outdoor staircase had lasted as long as they were going to and needed replacing.
I used phenolic plywood ( with cut edges being sealed) to give this staircase a new lease of life.
Hopefully they will go for 10 years or so.

I was asked by a returning customer to add some doors to this alcove shelving to turn it into a wardrobe.
I removed one shelf and then did my best to match the style of doors that already existed. Along with a hanging rail and a lick of paint I think they fit in really nicely.

After living with the temporary floor for a few weeks I felt it was high time I got on with laying the laminate.
Now, I don't do floors. I won't do floors for customers, I don't feel the quality of my work in this area is good enough, but it is good enough for my home... just don't zoom in.
I added underfloor electric heating and then the laminate. It stops before the kitchen units because we need to replace the kitchen at a later date and there is a cupboard to be built by the fridge, so this is as finished as it gets for now.
It is lovely having a warm floor now though!
