“Brave enough to dream & bold enough to try” ~ I love a good insta audio & this one hit the mark as I was scrolling 🎶

I’m joining in with an invitation from Helen Rowan Photography to introduce myself today. Oof, it’s harder than it sounds!

…… I’ve been doing what I do for so long now, it’s become second nature, it’s in my muscle memory & it’s so normal, it’s not easy to explain!

But the basics are I’m first & foremost a 50 something year old wife, mum, mum-in-law, Granny, sister, sister-in-law, Auntie, daughter & friend & that’s the most important thing in my world 🌍

& then there’s work ~ I’ve only ever had 2 proper jobs! My little business which I started 14 years ago after realising that my work/life balance really wasn’t balanced in the right way for our family atall. So I took a risk & swapped my secure & reliable 26 year career (job no.1) to run my own business (job no.2) that encouraged & offered what I was craving - a place to escape to, to switch off from the world & recharge my batteries in a cosy & relaxing environment. Luckily it turned out pretty darn well 👊🏼

Things that make me overly happy:
🛖 my little business - my head continuously whirs with ideas & tweaks
👫 our guests - I’m super grateful for the support & cheer leading you all give so generously
🛍️ supporting local - we are lucky to have amazing shops, cafes, pubs & restaurants on our doorstep, shop small always
🐾 Gilbert the Airedale - no explanation needed, he’s my pawsome shadow
🚌 Campervan life - our way to escape our responsibilities & recharge our batteries
🧶 crafting - you’ll usually find me with wool & a crochet hook, busy fingers = quiet mind
🍽️ sharing good food around the table is my love language
🎄 Christmas - the whole festive season actually!
🍁 Autumn - I’d happily live in a world where it was autumn every day

Eyam Bonfire event 7th November ‘26 🎆

It’s a fabulous organised annual charity event, & it always sells out ~ for good reason 💥

The evening starts with a torchlit procession, giant willow rat & music through the village 🐀

There is food/drink served from farm trailers before the bonfire is lit & the fireworks light up the sky 🔥

It is a ticket only event & they sell out quickly before the night 🎟️

If you fancied making a weekend of it, our little green hut is available & the perfect place for an autumn weekend away 🛖

Pictures don’t always tell the whole story, I’ve lost my flow this week, taken far too many afternoon “nana naps” but sometimes that’s just what you need! It’s been a mixed bag but it’s Friday 🤗

On Monday I had to have a tooth out & do you know what, I’m scared of the dentist & it wasn’t nice, this emoji is exactly what it looked like too! 🦷

Gilbert is doing well after his cruciate op, he’s starting to weightbare but I’m really missing my pooch walks with him 🐾

But let’s not dwell, these are the good bits ⬇️

There have been visits to Bakewell to enjoy food & good company with friends ~ it’s such a great town with great places to eat/drink The Charleston, Bakewell Cheese & Wine Bar- Bakewell 🧀🍷(I feel a blog coming on!)

An exciting meet up with Fiona Stubbs for a Reflections Magazine feature next month 📝

We had our first fire & lit all the candles as the temperatures dropped 🔥

& we have had lovely guests staying in the hut & came to stay in the cottage, a fellow Airbear which always brightens our days ❤️

Repeat guests are THE BEST 😍

We are fortunate to not have one or two, but lots of guests who return again & again, there really is no better compliment right? 🥰

So when two special guest-friends booking pings in year after year AND they travel all the way from Canada, that is the best feeling (I’m beaming as I type) 🤗

Maybe it’s the comfort of knowing where you’ll be going, no surprises which means you settle in as soon as you arrive, afterall, you know where the tea & milk is & you’ll sleep well in the comfy bed 😉

Or maybe it’s familiar host faces, easy conversations sharing a welcome drink, paths walked before in different seasons, a favourite cake in the local cafe……. ❤️
