About a month ago, we rented one of our properties to a local restaurant chain (actually my favorite chain of the island). We have some lovely new tenants and the restaurant has guaranteed accomodation for their staff. Today I am so grateful for Bermuda.

Mark Twain is widely regarded as one of the greatest American writers, known for works like The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. He said it best with his quote: “You can go to heaven if you want. I'd rather stay in Bermuda.”

I went back to visit the SA in Doncaster recently.

I haven't been back since we went live with this property a year ago! We have such a great team of cleaners and maintenance people and we're consistently getting great reviews🌟 so it didn't feel too urgent to visit. BUT, we should have gone before. We also picked this time, where we're making great money with lots of nice direct bookings, to upgrade a few things. Any good business should invest while the money is flowing well!🥳

I'm spending some time this summer in Bermuda expanding my knowledge of AI ... it's much needed just to somewhat keep up with the new developments.

One of the questions I asked is 'Please give me 5 to 10 new skills that AI has in June 2025 that it didn't have in January 2025. Please explain the new skills in clear English in no more than 15 words'.

Renters' Rights Bill - it is coming, it is coming .... but it's taking a bit longer!

This bill is all about protecting tenants and ensuring they have accommodation of a good standard that they can feel secure in. BUT, unfortunately, what's actually happening is that landlords with a small number of properties are exiting the market. Yes, some of those properties will be purchased and go back on the rental market, but some may not.

I certainly want renters to have acceptable, even great, homes ... but, first and foremost I want them to have A home, any home!🏠

I've been reviewing my landlord obligations this month as the regulations are becoming more onerous with additional rules added each year. It can be easy to let certain things fall between the cracks if you aren't careful. The renters reform bill hasn't yet come into effect but we know ... broadly ... what it will contain. Getting ahead of the game!
