Thousands expected as spectacular Goldwing Light Parade returns to Scarborough. 🏍️✨

Scarborough’s seafront is set to light up next weekend as around 100 illuminated motorcycles take to the streets for the town’s popular annual Goldwing Light Parade.

The free event returns on Saturday 12 September, with organisers expecting thousands of spectators to line the route. Previous parades have attracted crowds of up to 12,000 people.

The Goldwing motorcycles will first go on display on Scarborough Pier from noon until 4pm, giving visitors the chance to see the impressive machines up close.

Then, when darkness falls, the main spectacle begins.

At 8pm, around 100 Goldwings covered in colourful neon and LED lights will set off from the pier, travelling across Spa Bridge and along Foreshore Road and Marine Drive towards Peasholm Gap before making their way back.

Riders are expected to travel from across the country to take part, with lights, music and even the occasional fancy dress costume helping to create one of Scarborough’s most unusual nights of the year.

The event also raises thousands of pounds annually for Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

⚠️ Anyone heading into Scarborough should be aware that several road closures will be in place from around 7.30pm, including Foreshore Road, Sandside and part of Eastborough, while rolling closures will affect Marine Drive and Royal Albert Drive.

One traditional part of the event will be missing this year. Organisers have confirmed that the planned fireworks display has been cancelled due to safety concerns following recent wildfires.
