Part of the reason we love this particular development is the rich history of the building itself 🏥

This historic Victorian building was built in 1890 and opened as ‘Victoria Hospital’, with the ‘Royal’ being added in 1910, and it was originally Folkestone’s main hospital.

Designed originally by Joseph Gardner in 1889, the small hospital was then built in phases with additional sections being added over the years. The central section, which contained administrative offices, general and private wards, opened in 1890 and was later supplemented by a ward wing designed by H. Percy Adams and built-in 1900 - 1902.

If this wasn’t enough the hospital later provided military beds from 1914-1918, securing its place in the local history books through its contribution to the war efforts. In the 1970s, hospital services were scaled down, and in later years the accident and emergency department at Royal Victoria Hospital was closed, leaving it with a minor injuries service.

Today, we’re bringing a new chapter to this historic building, and can’t wait for you to see the care that’s been applied to this development.

Our superb redevelopment of the old Royal Victoria Hospital site is underway!

This wonderful Victorian building was built in 1890 and was originally Folkestone’s main hospital, but it's now been converted by Alliance Construction into 18 high-quality apartments.
