its a reminder of why roofers need to be better trained sometimes. It is a shame that we dont have regulation to register trades people in the UK

Pleased to be presenting and open discussions at the Pan London damp and mould webinar tomorrow Thursday 25th 2.00 - 3.30 . Speakers across a number of boroughs will open discussions on the problems facing councils, best practice and data logging.

Hosted by London office of technology and Innovation.

"The Pan-London IoT Damp and Mould Pilot is now live with 16 London Boroughs participating. We are holding an online workshop for both participant and non participant boroughs to share progress and discuss the deployment and placement of sensors and practical use cases for monitoring and mitigating damp and mould using sensors.

Objective: Through collaboration and sharing we aim to enable participants to enhance the effectiveness of damp and mould sensor deployments.

Use Case Discussion and Knowledge Sharing: Participants will share how they have been deploying sensors, key learnings, experiences and insights gained during the early phases of the pilot.

Learn from Prior Pilots: Hear from boroughs that have deployed sensors as part of previous or existing damp and mould pilots and learn from their successes and mistakes!

I am often asked by customers what type of survey to have. The answer fundamentally rests with the kind of explanations you want. With modern houses where we might not expect a problem a simple " headsup" survey is often good value. However as houses get older, perhaps more complex or run down you need guidance on the significance of what is seen. You may be buying for rental and need the advice tailored for that use. When I train surveyors for level 3 surveys I show them how to ask the right questions to provide the right survey. It pays to chose a surveyor who gives you a personalised service beyond the survey. That way you can know what the vulnerabilities and characteristics of the house is and purchase with confidence.

In conversation with Sarah Levett of Iot solutions talking about the complexities of condensation and the types of tech that are developing to help landlord groups stay one step ahead. Technology has to be used in parallel with other resources and assistance to tenants to help them manage condensation. It is very hard to balance condensation in a cost of living crisis. This type of technology can help identify those struggling before it gets to serious.
