So many gatherings around the table at the Chapel this summer — long, lingering meals, stories shared, glasses raised, and families crossing the threshold to spend precious time together.

This weekend, we welcome our final summer guests before the Chapel gently shifts into retreat mode for the autumn.

Nature is slowly taking over the chapel walls 🌿

Our neighbour hates the elder. I love it.

When we moved here 10 years ago it was tiny, but now it towers over the garden, bringing shade, birdsong, and a feeling of being tucked away from the world. I honestly can’t imagine the garden without it.

And then there’s the valerian, happily growing out of the cracks and joints in the old stone walls, completely ignoring where it’s supposed to be. Every year it appears in new places and it never fails to make me smile.

I know some people prefer things neat and controlled, but one of my favourite things about living here is watching nature slowly make the chapel its own. 💚

Sometimes the most beautiful gardens are the ones that have a mind of their own.

Brown butter sage eggs, avocado & sourdoug

Orange pancakes with ginger & rhubarb, Greek yoghurt

Boiled eggs with Comté, butter & sea salt on sourdough

Apple crumble overnight oats

Seasonal fruits with warm spices & something a little indulgent on top

And of course… a full Hobbit’s breakfast for our reading retreats

This Christmas Eve, Narnia-inspired ceramics made a few years ago sit quietly inside - a small winter welcome into the warmth of the Chapel.
