๐Ÿ’” HEARTBREAKING. THIS IS SCOTLAND IN 2026. ๐Ÿ’”

Last night, Homeless Project Scotland was left absolutely horrified after being forced to convert our female shelter room into an emergency family room for a mum, dad and five children.

This was not a decision we wanted to make. It was a decision we felt we had no choice but to make.

When families with children are facing homelessness and nowhere safe to go, what are we supposed to do? Turn them away?

The fact that a voluntary, grassroots charity is having to use emergency shelter space intended for vulnerable adults to accommodate an entire family is a damning reflection of the housing and homelessness crisis unfolding across Scotland.

No child should be spending the night in emergency homeless accommodation. No parent should be facing the fear and uncertainty of having nowhere safe for their children to sleep.

Our volunteers did everything they could to ensure this family had warmth, safety and dignity, but we cannot ignore the bigger question:

How has it come to this?

While politicians debate and reports are written, families are still finding themselves with nowhere else to turn.

This is not just a statistic. This is a mum, a dad and five children who needed somewhere safe to sleep last night.

Scotland ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ deserves better.

Every child deserves better.

Working Together for Scotlandโ€™s ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ Most Vulnerable

At Homeless Project Scotland we know that tackling homelessness requires partnership, determination, and people who are prepared to take action when vulnerable individuals and families need support most.

We are proud to work alongside Ross Harper who share our commitment to ensuring that no one is left without help when they need it most.

Recently, a family with five children found themselves facing an incredibly difficult situation. Through partnership working and a focus on finding solutions, safe accommodation was secured, ensuring the family had the safety, dignity, and support they deserved.

Behind every statistic is a real person, a real family, and real children whose lives can be changed when organisations and individuals work together.

Thank you to Ross Harper for the continued support and commitment to helping some of the most vulnerable people in our communities.

๐Ÿ’™ Together, we can make a difference.
๐Ÿ  Every family deserves a safe place to call home.
๐Ÿค Partnership working saves lives.

The details emerging from the "Beastie House" case are among the most disturbing and heartbreaking failures of public services Scotland has ever witnessed.

Children repeatedly showed clear signs of distress. Opportunities to intervene were missed. Agencies that existed to protect vulnerable children failed to recognise the reality of the abuse they were suffering.

When failures of this magnitude occur, accountability cannot simply rest with frontline staff. Leadership must also be held accountable. Public confidence in Glasgow's ability to protect its most vulnerable children has been severely damaged.

For that reason, we believe that Glasgow City Council Glasgow's Chief Executive, Susanne Millar, should seriously consider her position. Leadership carries responsibility not only for successes, but also for systemic failures that occur under its watch.

This is not about politics or personal attacks. It is about restoring public trust, ensuring meaningful accountability, and demonstrating to survivors and the people of Glasgow that lessons will be learned from this tragedy.

The victims deserved protection. They deserved to be heard. They deserved better.

Now Glasgow's citizens deserve answers, accountability, and change.

'Susanne Millar is paid around ยฃ230,000 per year (plus pension contributions) to run Scotlandโ€™s largest local authority, but I am not convinced that she can run a bath after reading this report' ๐Ÿ‘‡
