I’ve recently upgraded to a dustless sanding system for all prep work before decorating.

Preparation is where the quality of a job is really decided, and this setup lets me do it properly without filling your home with dust.

In the video below you’ll see the sander connected directly to my dust extractor. When I switch it on and press the sander to the wall, it actually holds itself there. That’s the level of suction pulling the dust straight through as I work.

What this means for you:

• Far less airborne dust in your home
• Cleaner rooms and less disruption
• Better surface preparation before painting
• A smoother, more professional finish

Good prep isn’t just about sanding, It’s about controlling the mess that usually comes with it. This system helps me deliver a higher standard of work while keeping your home cleaner throughout the job.

If you’ve got a room that needs freshening up, feel free to get in touch.

Somehow I’ve ended up with a bit of space just before Christmas. If you want a room sorted before the relatives arrive and judge your walls, now’s your chance.

And if December’s too tight, I’ve also got some space between jobs in January. Perfect for those “new year, new walls” resolutions you’ll abandon by February.

Drop a message if you want in before the slots disappear.

Kicking off the last big exterior of the year. Forecast says “mostly dry,” which we all know translates in this country to “bring a jacket and a sense of humour.”

Hoping to get this one finished before the next monsoon rolls in. 🤞🏻

Today I find myself clinging to the side of the house like a sunburnt Spider-Man with a paint brush.

The paint’s drying mid-air, I’m slathered in factor-dufflecoat and I’m questioning every life choice that led to this moment, including the bright idea to “make the most of the weather.”

I’d love a Calippo and a paddling pool right now.

Managed to get this finished in time before the visitors arrived. Nothing like a family visit to finally light a fire under your paintbrush.

Since then it’s been a whirlwind of playing tour guide around Stirling and Edinburgh and a visit down to Dumfries House…then rounding it all off with a classic Scottish camping trip at Culzean Castle, complete with sideways rain. Obviously.

Now that I’m back to work, I thought I’d share the before and after of my own hallway. From filler spots and scuffed walls to clean lines, fresh colour, and a gallery wall that’s (mostly) straight. Proof that even a decorator’s home gets the full treatment eventually.

If your own place is still stuck in the “before” stage, I’m now taking bookings for probably October I’d guess once I get done with the quotes I’m currently working through. Drop me a message!

Well, would you look at that…the sun’s shown up after yesterday’s attempt to wash us all away.

I’ve got a fence that’s been waiting patiently (and a bit soggily) for a couple of coats of paint, so let’s hope this sunshine behaves itself and sticks around till tomorrow.

If anyone sees storm clouds approaching, kindly have a word with them. I’m on a deadline here.

Monday’s forecast: 100% humidity.

Nothing like kicking off the week with a full-body workout courtesy of the steam stripper. It’s basically a sauna in here – but with more mess and less relaxation.

If you’re wondering where I am today, just follow the smell of determination.

Happy Monday from the land of sweat, steam, and satisfying progress.

The Hallway Hustle: Before Shot

Big push today to get my own hallway prepped for a fresh coat - because nothing says “welcome” quite like flaking paint and filler patches 😂

With family coming to visit soon, it felt like the right time to show my own walls a bit of love (and finally practise what I preach!) This is the before - stay tuned for the transformation!

Need your place looking sharp before the guests arrive? I do the prep and the painting so you don’t have to.

Get in touch if your hallway or spare room’s crying out for the same TLC. Got space towards the end of July.

Sun Room Transformation Complete! Finished up this sun room and really pleased with how it’s turned out.

• All the walls and ceiling were freshly plastered, so I started with a thinned mist coat.

• Ceiling got two coats of Dulux Trade Supermatt in Brilliant White for a crisp, clean finish.

• Walls are now done in Blue Willow using Johnstones Covaplus Vinyl Matt – really happy with the colour and coverage.

• For the woodwork, I used Zinsser Bullseye 1-2-3 Primer, followed by Johnstones Aqua undercoat and gloss – great results with minimal brush marks.

Typically, after six weeks of glorious sunshine, it starts raining the moment I put the brush down. Perfect timing! The sun room can now be used ironically I suppose. 🌦️

This is the best looking one I’ve done in a while. I don’t often paper a ceiling and especially not one where I need to cut round a ceiling rose like that but it was worth it in the end.

The paper is Arcadia Magnolia by Woodchip and Magnolia and the walls are done in Valspar Foxtail. The new wood was left as is for the moment at the client’s request.

Got a wee bit of space in the next couple of weeks if anyone’s got a room or two needing done.
