Following todays roundtable discussion which brought together government and policy officials and industry figures to collaborate on moving forward the retrofitting of homes in the UK agenda Mears have released a Retrofit Policy Paper.

The report examines the progress that has already been made and draws on the experience of Mears and others to suggest policy solutions that could help accelerate the UK’s retrofit journey.

As one of the UK’s leading providers of housing management and maintenance services in the UK, Mears has an enormous responsibility towards making housing more energy efficient and we will continue to learn daily as we undertake more and more retrofit activity.

As one of the UK’s leading providers of housing management and maintenance services in the UK, Mears has an enormous responsibility towards making housing more energy efficient. Decarbonising existing homes will be critical if the sector is to cut its carbon footprint and the UK is to achieve its net zero goal. Across the country, Mears are working with clients and partners to reduce carbon emissions and retrofit solutions to deliver carbon savings. In Aberdeenshire, Mears are already delivering for the Council’s Housing Improvement Programme (HIP) to reduce carbon emissions in council houses and flats and over 780 energy efficient heating systems were installed in the first two years of the contract.

Today, we are hosting a roundtable in London that will bring together government and policy officials and industry figures to collaborate on moving forward the retrofitting of homes in the UK agenda.

We have supported three community projects in Thurrock as part of our ongoing commitment to giving back to the local communities we work in. These include creating mud kitchens for two primary schools in Tilbury, helping with the increased seasonal demand at Thurrock Foodbank and delivering winter packs to residents of Thurrock's 29 sheltered housing complexes.
