A true neighbour. A real hero. ❤️

A little delayed, but a story worth sharing. This post was meant to go out last week, but we didn’t want to miss the opportunity to recognise David and the incredible thing he did for his neighbour.

Recently, one of our tenants, David, noticed something that many of us might have ignored—a neighbour's fire alarm that just wouldn't stop.

Instead of assuming someone else would deal with it, he trusted his instincts, called the fire service, and checked on his neighbour. His quick actions helped prevent what could have been a devastating house fire.

We're incredibly grateful for David's courage and kindness. His story is a powerful reminder that looking out for one another can truly save lives.

A simple reminder for us all:

❗️Listen out if a neighbour's fire alarm continues to sound.
❗️Check on them if it's safe to do so.
❗️Never hesitate to call emergency services if you think someone may be in danger.

At Corbett & Shields, routine property inspections are carried out to help protect both our landlords and tenants, ensuring properties remain safe, well-maintained, and any potential issues are identified before they become costly problems.

Under Scottish tenancy law, tenants have the right to quiet enjoyment of their home, meaning landlords and letting agents cannot simply turn up unannounced. For Private Residential Tenancies (PRTs), at least 48 hours' written notice must be given before any inspection or non-emergency visit.

Regular inspections help us:

✅ Spot maintenance issues early
✅ Check safety measures remain in place
✅ Identify leaks, damp, or damage before they worsen
✅ Give landlords confidence that their investment is being cared for
✅ Provide tenants with the opportunity to raise any concerns
