So, here you go. Lights off, lights on, and the finished result behind the television at The Joseph Cosy.
The camera actually shows the difference between the two light sources really clearly. You can see the cooler blue light coming from the television, then the softer, warmer fairy lights behind it.
This is not just me adding fairy lights because they look pretty, although they do look lovely ha!
Having a warm light behind the television helps soften the contrast between the bright screen and the darker wall. Your eyes and brain are not having to work quite as hard to process one strong, bright light source against the darkness.
The mixture of the blue light from the screen and the warm light behind it can feel much calmer and easier to look at, particularly for anyone who is sensitive to lighting or becomes overwhelmed by strong visual contrast.
It is one of those small changes that most people might not think twice about, but it can make a real difference to how comfortable a room feels.
Joseph did a cracking job stringing them all up too, especially as I imagine it was a slightly more fiddly task than I made it sound when I asked him ๐
