The Ram (Derby) history

Commissioned in 2003 by Mr Boughton and his wife and built by (MCC) Midland Canal Company in a traditional tug style and fitted out in a traditional style and layout.

In the living area you will find this boats entire history tucked away in a "Bruce almighty" style filing cabinet which continues past the bulkhead and tucks away under the front deck.

Mr Boughton (an engineer) and his wife were folk singers and the boat was named after a folk song about a giant Ram. We dropped the "Derby" to avoid confusion with football teams although this is still the original name registered with CRT. We kept the original as a mark of respect to Mr Boughton's family. However I am informed by CRT that any name can be registered at any time if the new owner wished.

Paperwork includes but is not limited to the following :

Original plans for the boat build
Calorifier plans
Manuals for invertors
The original engine manual and reciept
Reciept for handmade door glasses at over £700 each (stork and kingfisher designs)
History of licences, insurances, services, manuals, plans, surveys, safety certificates and receipts
Even handwritten folk song lyrics from the original owner.
