In just over a month’s time Julian Mason will be taking on the Altra Yorkshire Marathon on 18 October in support of Yorkshire Cancer Research - https://www.yorkshirecancerresearch.org.uk/

Julian says “After my own experience with prostate cancer this year, I am pleased to say I have now finished my treatment and am extremely grateful for all the amazing support and medical treatment I have received. I am therefore raising funds for Yorkshire Cancer Research to help raise awareness of cancer, particularly prostate cancer and its impact on men of a certain age, while promoting the importance of regular check-ups and early detection”.

Below are photos of him taking part in previous running challenges the Leeds Marathon and the Great North Run in 2024, as he recommences his fundraising journey for this fantastic cause.

🚴‍♂️ A cycling trip with a family connection!

During Julian and Keely’s annual cycling adventure from Harrogate to Newark, taking in the stunning Lincolnshire Wolds and Lincoln, there was a special stop along the way: the hamlet of Beelsby in North East Lincolnshire.

Beelsby holds particular significance as it's where the "Bradley" side of the Bradley-Mason story began. The trip included a visit to the village and the farm where Julian's grandparents first met, as well as the nearby school in Hatcliffe, where his mum walked a mile each day to attend.

The Bradley family later relocated to East Yorkshire in the 1950s and, in the 1960s, fate brought together Bradley (Julian's mum) and Mason (Julian's dad) – creating the family story that would eventually inspire the Bradley-Mason name!

A special day spent revisiting the roots of the Bradley-Mason story 😊

Charlie's first hoist lift! 🚧

Our Year-Out Surveyor, Charlie Marsay, enjoying a sunny (if slightly windy!) day in Durham alongside Andrew Mitchell and Olly Henley, taking to the skies for his very first hoist lift experience.

A great way to gain a different perspective on site and build valuable practical experience. Well done, Charlie! 👏

Today we say farewell to our year-out surveyor, Matthew Holliday (Matt). To mark his last day, those of us in the office –Jade, Bhavna, Ali, Charlie and Matt – took a well-deserved break at lunchtime to enjoy an ice cream in the sunshine at Valley Gardens, Harrogate🍦☀️

Matt (right) made the most of the occasion with two ice creams… although one was actually Ali’s while she took the photo! 📸

A big thank you to Matt for all his hard work and contribution over the past year. We wish him every success as he heads into his final year at university – we’ve no doubt he has a bright future ahead.

At the same time, we’re delighted to welcome Charles Marsay (left), who joins us this week as our new year-out surveyor from Leeds Beckett University. We look forward to working with you!

Great to attend the recent Retailers Property Association (RPA) Summer Conference – an engaging and well-attended event bringing together professionals across the retail property sector.

Our surveyors Sebrina de Veer, Julian Mason and Iain Feasey were pleased to share their expertise with members on dilapidations, offering practical insights and guidance on this key area of building surveying. It was also fantastic to see Julian contributing to an insightful discussion on how AI is shaping the industry and influencing the future of property management.

The RPA continues to play a vital role in representing retailers’ property interests, working collaboratively with key organisations to tackle occupancy challenges across the sector. We’re proud to support the RPA and its members in their ongoing efforts.

Last Thursday, we held our team day at Xscape Yorkshire in Castleford, where we kicked things off with some friendly competition at go karting followed by a fantastic Italian meal for lunch and 4D golf ⛳

It was great to get everyone together outside of the usual work environment — have a laugh, and most importantly…we all survived with no injuries!

A special congratulations to Callum for setting the fastest lap 🏆, with Olly and Keely close behind in second and third place 🏁

Thanks to Keely, Julian and Bhavna for organising. Looking forward to the next one! 🙂

Update re Jake Hopper - who we proudly sponsor in the motorcycle racing world! 🏍️

For the 2026 season, kicking off this month - Jake returns to MGR Racing for his second year aboard the Honda Fireblade, competing on the National Superstock 1000 grid.

Jake shared his thoughts ahead of the season - “I’m super grateful for the opportunity to return with MGR and keep building on what was an incredibly successful 2025 season. Over the off-season the team have been working extremely hard to get the bike ready after the off at Brands last year. I’m now looking forward to a short but intense pre-season ahead of round one in just 31 days .”

We’re glad to continue supporting Jake and the MGR Racing team as they gear up for another competitive season…best of luck for the season ahead Jake! 🍀
