KYNREN never fail to deliver!! A world class event just 13 miles from Curlew Cottage. We have been two years running and have attended the "original" night time show, their fireworks show in late autumn, and their new "storied lands" this year. All are genuinely amazing and have received nationwide accolade. Cannot recommend enough. KYNREN never fail to deliver!! A world class event just 13 miles from Curlew Cottage. Curlew Cottage: A Blind Saga in Three Acts

Act 1: Mrs Curlew Cottage says “we need a blind on the Velux.” I, in my infinite wisdom, say “nah fam, people want to look up at the sky!” Romantic. Poetic. Wrong.

Act 2: Turns out getting woken up at 5am by the July sun isn’t everyone’s idea of a holiday. Who knew. Ordered a blind. Waited 3 weeks. Found a gap between guests to get it fitted. It was the wrong size. £280 down the drain.

Act 3: Ordered again. Waited another 2 weeks. Found another gap. Today — FINALLY — it went up.

So without further ado, I present to you: Curlew Cottage’s Magic Daytime/Nighttime Blind™ (not “light,” as I so eloquently called it in the video, apparently blinds are beyond my vocabulary too).

Mrs Curlew Cottage was right. She’s always right. This is my formal apology, five weeks and £280 late. 🙃

I've only lived "oop north" for just over a year so I LOVE discovering my surroundings to share with Curlew Cottage guests. Latest adventure was to Newcastle (The Toon!) 🤍🖤 for a day out with 12 year old Master Curlew. We did an amazing boat trip on the Tyne (and yes I DID sing "fog on the Tyne") . We then visited a dog cafe, Dog and Scone, had a pit stop at the (free) Hancock Museum, and then finished off our day with a "bird of prey experience" where we got up close with tiny owls 🦉 all the way up to a GOLDEN EAGLE! 🦅💛🦅. Newcastle really is a great day out, and just an hour from Curlew HQ...m

Took the dogs for their annual "In the heather" photos today 💜💜💜. It's Mr Fentons (border collie) first summer with us (rescue dog from Dogs Trust) and he posed with "paw" beautifully.... Pixie Pootle is already a pro at looking gorgeous, but don't let these photos fool you though, they are both absolute menaces!! 🤪

Fantastic trip to Raby Castle "in bloom" with friends who stayed at Curlew. Its always a lovely day out, great cafe/rest...

Fantastic trip to Raby Castle "in bloom" with friends who stayed at Curlew. Its always a lovely day out, great cafe/restaurant (which you dont need a ticket to go to), the castle, the gardens, the deer park etc. They do an amazing christmas event; https://www.raby.co.uk/christmas/

We have friends staying at Curlew Cottage which is lovely, so we had a trip out today to see beautiful "High Force", but also found a little hidden gem, Eggleston Hall walled gardens. Just £2.50 to get in and its a fabulous vintage garden with a plethora or beautiful things... there is even an old churchyard with the buildings being reclaimed by nature, so pretty and serene. There is also a cafe and antique store there (though not open on Mondays). Will definitely return.

Whenever there is a guest changeover, I "sneak" some new to me (mostly vintage) finds.... in the last few days there has been Polly the handpainted parrot 🦜, a new wreath for the front door and the pièce de résistance, a beautiful antique statue with the more modern addition of an Eddison bulb 💡 It's huge and AI has helped with with a little research...👀🔍 It's a bit of a mystery, but seems to around 1890s continental Europe. It's fabulously bonkers either way 🥰
