For the recent Hastings Poetry Brothel event, the venue was completely reimagined — we set it up with atmospheric lighting, immersive installations, intimate seating, creative set design, and moody industrial backdrops that turned the old warehouse space into something truly unique.

What a way to launch Music @ The Mews.

A huge thank you to every musician who performed and helped fill Mews Industrial Quarter with such an incredible atmosphere throughout the day. The talent, energy, and support from everyone involved made the event something really special.

And a very special thank you to James Friis-Lawrence for all the additional help with equipment setup, sound assistance, and helping everything run smoothly throughout the day for all the musicians - it genuinely made a huge difference and helped make the event what it was.

What many people saw on Saturday was a vibrant creative space filled with music, people, and energy - but only a few months ago parts of the building were still old storage areas, empty industrial space packed with years of forgotten materials. Countless hours of clearing, building, painting, planning, and hard work has gone into bringing Mews Industrial Quarter to life.

Seeing the space transformed and full of people supporting local music made every bit of that work worth it. It’s been built around community, creativity, and independent culture, and Saturday felt like the first real glimpse of what this place can become.

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who came down, supported local music, and helped make our first Music @ The Mews launch such a success.

We already can’t wait to do it again - and hopefully welcome all of the musicians back again very soon. 🎶

This May 16th, The Poetry Brothel Hastings returns with Metamorph.
Drawing inspiration from Franz Kafka’s tale of startling transformation, this is a night for those who have ever felt "other," for those who have woken up changed, and for those who find beauty in the unconventional. This isn't a quiet poetry reading — it's a Literary Cabaret where the familiar becomes fantastical.

Join our house of poets for a night where the boundaries between verse and performance dissolve.

Expect an immersive literary cabaret featuring:
• Spoken Word & Storytelling from our rotating collective of personas.
• Burlesque & Live Music to stir the senses.
• Private Readings: Step into the shadows for a one-to-one intimate recital (tokens available on the night).

Come as you are, or as who you are becoming. LGBTQI+ welcoming and always a sanctuary for misfits and rebels.

What's happening at The Mews Industrial Quarter

On the bank holiday monday given the sun was shining we decided to give the front of our space a bit of a glow-up

What was once a bit of an underused entrance will now become a place to actually enjoy working — fresh air, sunlight, and still being able to see your screen (we’ve tested it 😉).

We’ve laid down some a-turf (dog-approved 🐾), opened things up, and started shaping a space that’s just as good outside as it is in.

Next up:
- working tables
- More seating
- A few finishing touches to make it the summer work spot

We even fired up a little BBQ for a vibe check… safe to say it passed 🔥
