Work on this new £10-million student accommodation for Trinity College, in Cambridge, began in 2018, completing in 2021. This 45-bedroom graduate student accommodation scheme is located in the world-renowned Cambridge Union Society, on Round Church Street.
Morgan Sindall Construction worked alongside a team of archaeologists due to the site being located on part of Cambridge’s Medieval defence system, The Kings Ditch - believed to date back to the Saxon era.
BB&C Architects took style references from the adjacent Waterhouse designed Victorian Cambridge Union Society and together with the refurbishment proposals for the neighbouring section of the Union replacing the tired and mismatched mix of Victorian, 1930s and 1960s architecture with a unified sympathetic modern interpretation. Sussex Handmade Brick’s Guestling Red, Hastings Dark Red and Westfield bricks were selected to best achieve this look, complimenting both the modern and historical parts of the building.
