A great sporting weekend with colleagues and friends, getting plenty of miles in our legs!
On Friday evening, some of the Meridian Family headed to Robertsbridge for the annual 10k, and Saturday saw some of the team tackle a muddy trail run, alongside some of our friends from Findleys of Cooden
At Meridian, we are fortunate to work with some fantastic people and it's always great to spend time together away from the office! 💚

Back where it all began.

We were first involved with this building back in 2018, preparing specifications and overseeing a programme of external repairs and redecoration works. Fast forward eight years and the next maintenance cycle is now underway, with scaffolding erected and works about to commence.

The project will include a range of external repairs, roof maintenance works and full redecoration to help protect the building fabric and maintain its appearance for years to come.

Regular planned maintenance is key to preserving buildings, preventing more costly repairs in the future and ensuring residents continue to enjoy a well-maintained home.

We look forward to seeing the transformation over the coming weeks.

Today was spent surveying one of Hastings most prominent seafront buildings.

The drone proved invaluable, providing excellent aerial overviews of the property and capturing high-quality images of areas that would otherwise be difficult to access (despite the seagulls!) 📷

Meridian Surveyors are pleased to have been appointed to prepare a Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) Plan for this fantastic building, helping to ensure it is properly maintained and managed for years to come.

Today was spent surveying one of Hastings most prominent seafront buildings.

❗ Condensation and Cold Spots ❗

A common issue picked up during one of today’s inspections.

These bathroom downlights have been installed to the bathroom ceiling, but the loft insulation above had been pushed back and not reinstated around them. That leaves a colder area in the ceiling compared with the surrounding surfaces.

In bathrooms, where humidity levels are often much higher, these colder spots are far more prone to surface condensation. Over time, that can lead to staining and mould growth.

Thermal imaging helped highlight the temperature difference, and a check within the loft confirmed the cause.

Many downlights are not suitable for insulation to be placed directly over them, so the insulation is often moved during installation. In many cases, a suitable downlight cover or insulation guard can be fitted, allowing insulation to be reinstated safely around the fitting.
