Seaview Holiday Apartments

It has been a two-day changeover operation at Seaview this week: Apartment 4 yesterday, followed by Apartments 3 and 5 today.

That means plenty of beds made, towels folded, final checks completed and cups of tea made—although not necessarily drunk while still hot.

If an autumn visit appeals, short breaks are available from 2 October. Looking a little further ahead, our August 2027 availability is now live too, for those impressively organised people who make the rest of us look a little unprepared.

Today is the autumn equinox, although Broad Haven rarely waits for an official date before trying out its autumn wardrobe.

The village is a little quieter, the evenings are drawing in and the beach has plenty more room for an unhurried walk. We may also be entering the season when a coat, sunglasses and waterproof can all be needed during the same outing—but that is Pembrokeshire planning for you.

Sunday arrivals always feel slightly different from our usual Thursday and Friday changeovers.

While most people are thinking about Monday morning, our guests arriving in Apartments 3 and 4 are unpacking, finding the kettle and settling in for a short break beside the sea. A considerably better way to start the week, in my opinion.

We hope they have a lovely stay and enjoy a quieter September Broad Haven.

Just one changeover today, in Apartment 5—a rather gentler Friday than some we experienced during the summer holidays.

Looking ahead, Apartments 3 and 5 are available from Friday 2 October and can be booked for a short break. Autumn in Broad Haven brings quieter days, plenty of room on the beach and a very good excuse to abandon the jobs at home for a few nights by the sea.

We’re back up to full strength in the Seaview changeover team after two of our trusty crew escaped for their own summer holidays.

They have returned rested, refreshed and sensibly unwilling to appear in a Facebook photograph. So you’ll have to take my word for it that they exist.

It’s good to have everyone back—especially when there are beds to make, towels to fold and an impressive number of places where a single stray hair can hide.

September Sundays in Broad Haven have a slightly different rhythm.

The summer holidays may be over, but the beach is still here, the sunsets haven’t packed away for winter, and there’s usually a little more room to stop and enjoy both.

It’s one of my favourite times of year—not least because the laundry mountain becomes considerably less mountainous.

Two members of our housekeeping team are away sunning themselves in warmer climates this week.

We are, of course, delighted for them. Not jealous in the slightest.

Fortunately, two trusty stand-ins have stepped forward to keep Seaview running smoothly. Apartment 4 had its changeover yesterday and Apartment 5 is being prepared today, while the guests in Apartment 3 are staying for a second week — giving us one slightly smaller laundry mountain than usual.

Holidays for some, holiday preparations for others… and every clean towel, freshly made bed and final check still taken care of.

September may have only just begun, but some people are already planning much further ahead than I am.

We still have availability at Seaview during October, when Broad Haven settles into its quieter autumn rhythm. It’s a lovely time for beach walks, days exploring Pembrokeshire and returning to a warm apartment with no pressure to build a sandcastle before tea.

A small but rather pleasing update…

Last week we admitted that our follower count had slipped from 799 to 797. Apparently, taking the mickey out of ourselves was the social media strategy we had been missing, because there are now 805 of you here.

Thank you for following Seaview, commenting on our posts and tolerating the occasional glimpse behind the scenes. We’ll continue sharing Broad Haven, apartment life and the less glamorous realities involving laundry, keys and cups of tea abandoned somewhere between the office and Apartment 5.

People sometimes ask whether, after living and working beside Broad Haven beach for so many years, I stop noticing the view.

The honest answer is no.

This is the view from my office window—although, to be entirely accurate, it is the view through a gap in the blinds and over the top of several files that I really must sort out.

I still stop when the light changes, watch particularly dramatic waves for longer than I intended and abandon perfectly sensible tasks when a rainbow appears.

I call this “keeping an eye on conditions for our guests”.

It is a demanding responsibility, but someone has to do it. 😄
