Five reasons to stay in west Cornwall this autumn
Cornwall doesn’t pack up for winter after the summer season has come to a close, if anything autumn is the perfect time to stay. The crowds thin out, the light turns golden, and the coast path is yours again to explore.
Here are just five reasons why this time of year is one of the best to stay with us…
1️⃣ The sunsets
Set at the foot of Tregonning Hill with views stretching across St Michael’s Mount and Mount’s Bay, our pods catch some of the best sunsets around. Autumn’s lower light turns the whole sky amber and pink during many evenings. So, pull up a chair on the decking, or sit over on your picnic table and soak it in.
2️⃣ Bring the doggies
From October, most Cornish beaches have lifted their summer restrictions and welcomed dogs back. Praa Sands (a stones throw from us) is among those on the list. There’s so much to explore, and now you can do it with your furry friend included.
3️⃣ Less crowds
We’re right in the middle of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site, with mining history, and coastal and countryside walks all around. In autumn, you can explore all of it without the summer queues, without the hunt for a parking space, and no wait for a table at the local pub. Space and peace to take it all in.
4️⃣ Seasonal fun
Autumn in Cornwall means harvest markets, local festivals, and pumpkin picking! Trevena Cross have their own pumpkin patch this year (just down the road), Great Drym Pumpkins are less than 15 minutes away, and Trevaskis Farm and Splattenridden Farm’s patches are both under 30 minutes away. The perfect activity for an October day out.
5️⃣ Cosy nights in… and cosy nights out!
Our pods are heated, insulated, and made for curling up in once the sun goes down, but when you do fancy heading out on an autumn evening, west Cornwall’s pubs come into their own at this time of year. Log fires, local ales, and warming seasonal dishes await.
