💙 Big skies & little adventures 🐾

Sometimes you just need a bit of fresh air, a big sky & a change of scenery.

Head of Marketing was busy surveying his kingdom… although I suspect he was actually keeping an eye out for something to chase! 😂

There’s something about getting out into the open countryside, breathing in the fresh air & leaving the everyday stuff behind for a while.

And autumn in Cornwall has so much to offer — beautiful walks, dramatic skies & plenty of space to just slow down.

Who else loves a big Cornish sky? 💙☁️

🛏️ Did you know the twin beds at Penty Myghal can become a superking?

One room, two options — twin beds if you’re coming with friends or family, or a lovely big superking if you’re sharing with your other half. 🩵

It works really well whether you’re a couple, a group of friends or a family of four — just choose the setup that suits you best.

🦪 Fancy a very Cornish day out? The Falmouth Oyster Festival is back! 🦪

From 8th–11th October, Falmouth celebrates the start of the native Fal oyster dredging season with four days of seafood, local produce, live music, chef demonstrations, arts & crafts, working boats and, of course, plenty of oysters! 🦪🥂

There’s the famous oyster shucking competition, Working Boat Race, Grand Oyster Parade, seafood bars and plenty of opportunities to discover more about the traditional oyster fishery on the Fal. And one of the chefs taking part in the demonstrations will be Porthleven’s very own Jude Kereama — so it’s lovely to see a familiar face from home on the line-up! 👨‍🍳🩵

And the best bit? Daytime entry is free, so you can wander around, soak up the atmosphere and see what takes your fancy.

If you’re already staying in Cornwall in October, this is definitely one to add to your itinerary — and if you’re not, well… there’s always next year! 😉

🍹 A little Saturday night recommendation… Talay Thai 🍜

I had dinner at TALAY Thai Kitchen with friends at the weekend and we had such a lovely evening! 🥰

We went early and there was no queue at all, which was a very nice bonus — especially when you’re hungry! 😂

The staff were brilliant, the cocktails were delicious 🍹 and the food was fresh, full of flavour and came out really quickly.

Everything we ordered was delicious and there was plenty of time for chatting, eating, drinking & generally enjoying ourselves — exactly what you want from a night out with friends. 🩵

It’s always lovely discovering somewhere that you can genuinely recommend, and Talay Thai definitely gets a thumbs up from me. 👍

Swanpool Nature Reserve and Beach 🌿

Just outside Falmouth, Swanpool is one of those places that has a little bit of everything — and as some of you know, I swim from here a couple of times a week, so it’s a bit of a favourite of mine! 🏊‍♀️🩵

🏖️ A lovely sandy beach backed by colourful beach huts
🦆 The natural pool and nature reserve to explore
⛳ Mini golf for a bit of family competition
🍦 The beach café with its famous ice creams, drinks & lunches — and during the summer, pizzas in the evening 🍕Swanpool Beach
🚗 A large car park, so no driving around endlessly looking for somewhere to leave the car!

If you fancy stretching your legs, there’s a beautiful scenic walk around towards Gyllyngvase Beach, with the chance to stop at Beach House Falmouth at Swanpool or Gylly Beach Café for a special lunch or dinner overlooking the sea. 🥂🌊

🐾 And good news for the four-legged guests: Swanpool is dog friendly all year round, although dogs are restricted from 10am–6pm during July & August.

So whether you’re after a swim, beach day, walk, ice cream, mini golf, lunch… or just somewhere lovely to sit and watch the world go by, Swanpool has you covered. 🩵
