There’s something rather special about starting the day with a quiet cup of coffee and watching the waves come to life. This morning, the surfers were already out enjoying the sea — and what a view! 💙

No rushing.

No alarm clock.

Just waking up to the sound of the sea, wandering down to the harbour, watching the waves roll in and enjoying a little bit of time together. ❤️

A cosy suite, beautiful sea views and one of Cornwall’s prettiest harbour villages right on your doorstep.

Sometimes you don’t need a big adventure…

You just need a few days away together. 🥰

Today, Porthleven is loved for its harbour, beautiful sea views and dramatic coastline. But before the harbour was built, this stretch of coast could be a terrifying place for sailors.

There was no safe harbour between Penzance and the east of Mount’s Bay, and ships caught in south-westerly storms could be driven onto the shore.

One of the most tragic wrecks was HMS Anson, a 44-gun warship which was wrecked on Loe Bar in 1807 during a violent storm. Around 120 lives were lost.

The disaster had a lasting impact far beyond Porthleven. Local man Henry Trengrouse, who witnessed the aftermath, was so affected by the loss of life that he developed a life-saving rocket apparatus — an early form of the breeches buoy — which could be used to get a line from shore to a stranded vessel.

So next time you stand looking out across the harbour or towards Loe Bar, remember that these beautiful waters have a much darker history too. ❤️

Well… this little idea is starting to become a LOT of lovely things! 🥰🎁

Behind the scenes, I’ve been busy collecting all sorts of gorgeous little treats and thoughtful goodies to create something really special.

It’s still very much a work in progress, but I couldn’t wait to share a little peek at what I’ve been gathering. 💕

The aim? To create a beautiful little box filled with lovely things that makes someone smile the moment they open it. ✨

⚓ THE STORY OF PORTHLEVEN HARBOUR ⚓

DAY 2 — THE PLAN BEGINS…

Today, Porthleven Harbour feels as though it has always been part of the village.

But it all started with a plan… 🗺️

In 1811, an Act of Parliament was passed to create a harbour at Porthleven, providing a place of refuge for ships caught in the notorious storms of Mount’s Bay.

It was an ambitious project for its time. The original estimate was around £60,000, with the work expected to take just five years.

But building a harbour on this exposed Cornish coastline was never going to be easy…

🌊 The Atlantic had other ideas.

Tomorrow, we’ll discover what happened when the building work actually began — and just how long it really took. ⚓
