I had an idea last week, words my husband usually dreads 😄.

Like many cottages we have requests for dogs to sleep on the bed, no problem we say. This involves them bringing their own bedding. But do they have a king size set or space in the car to fit it in?

So my idea is that guests could have another option, we supply a set that is kept just for this purpose. They could also still opt to bring their own bedding of course.

What do you think? Is it a good idea?

How stunning is Dilly, a young Podenco with an impressive presence. But she is also known as 'a bit of an escape artist', according to her human. At least the garden at Ruby Gem was secure enough to contain her and with Barney they were able to also enjoy the expansive beaches at Wonderful Winterton-on-sea.

Anyone visiting Wonderful Winterton-on-sea, might have been disappointed to find Seal View Winterton cafe and carpark closed this week. The reason is it is the location for an episode of The Unforgotten. So our gorgeous village is being exposed to a wider audience. The secret is out!

We were down on the beach at Winterton this morning, the sea was wild you could hear the waves crashing on the shore from the cottage. The walk certainly blew the cobwebs away and Eddie never stopped running in circles with pure enjoyment.

If you are visting the beach the only access is at the diamond sign north of the car park, the ramp by the toilet block has been removed by the winter storms.

We walked over to the coastal path so Eddie needed to be on the lead. Still seals to be seen on the beach and plenty acting as trip hazards on the path basking in the sunshine.

Eddie's first experience of snow, a year old last Monday but very much a pup at heart. The dunes looked amazing in the winter sun.

You know when you get one of those magical days in winter, when the sun is shining and it isn't bitterly cold and you and your dog are just enjoying the moment. Well today at Winterton was definitely one of those. Joyous!

Aren't these lovely. They are a gift, chosen as the one on the right matches our garden shed, the one on the left is there to keep it company. 😍
It brightens up a dull day, although a walk through dunes certainly lifted the spirits. The seals are just about to arrive on the northern part of the beach.

Took Eddie our nearly 10 month old guide dog pup to Winterton beach today. Something happens as soon as his paws touch the sand, he can't stop running. Makes it really difficult to take a picture of him.
It was a glorious day on the beach, definitely didn't need my coat.

The grand daughters also wrote in the comment book with their recommendations on places to go, which was lovely.

Ruby Gem is in Winterton on Sea - a small but mighty little village - with a dog friendly pub & cafe, a fish & chip shop, convenience store and the dunes all less than 5 minutes walk!

Ruby Gem itself is a firm favourite with our regular ERC guests not just because of the location, but the lovely interior, brilliantly stocked with everything you need and quiet and secure little garden.

It's a perfect place to get away from it all, while still having enough close by to feel like you can still do things if you decide to you want to have a peopely day 🤣
