A personal project …..
..decluttering and restyling my dad’s bedroom! It’s remained unchanged since my mum passed 28 years ago and before that I can’t even remember when it was decorated so over 30 years! So, it is really in need of some major TLC. I said to my dad I would redesign his bedroom for him, his brief “ I like blue, and I don’t want it too dark, I like light colours”.
I wanted to create a bright and light airy space, but with some nods to the traditions and antiques that the house is full, so herringbone patterns on the cushions, dark luxury velour armchair, panelled fitted wardrobes, all with a modern twist to bring the room up to date. The room brings a sense of serenity with peaceful blues and green colour combinations. The colour scheme is perfect for creating cool rooms during the summer months, but a touch of warmth in the winter, by adding some warm olive tones and darker blues. The next task is getting him to do it.
