Massive thanks to everyone that came to the launch last night. It's great to be among so many like-minded people. Although we're still in the relatively early stages of the project, we feel really positive about moving forward and got some great feedback and links to contacts...... thanks 🥰

Are you coming to our event later? If you're coming by car there's plenty of places to park. Street parking is a bit limited but there are spaces in the co-op car park, and there are no restrictions for parking in the square after 6pm. is located at the top end of Prestongate which is a short 5 min walk from Hessle Square. So, Pigs And Straw, what's the vision? Well, we want to create an enriching intentional community that empowers people to live a compassionate and low-impact lifestyle based on shared values and shared facilities. Employing innovative cooperative principles, it will make accessible accommodation and supportive community services – an incubator for alternative approaches and model of a better life.

Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, we're having to move next week's launch to Thursday 24th April. Same venue same time 6-9pm. Pigs and Straw, is a company limited by guarantee.  We're a not for profit company set up in order to take forward a community led housing project in the East Riding.  All directors are volunteers. We are committed to enabling local people to take forward an innovative approach to a housing development that

Provides good quality, affordable and accessible housing that meets the needs of residents within a supportive community settings

Is built in line with environmental standards, with particular regard to the government Code for Sustainable Housing and the Passivhaus building standard. 

Emulates models achieved elsewhere.  There are a number of different complexes produced by community led housing providers, ours is in line with those that have raised the funds to build a range of different sized properties, in one area, including a range of different sized dwellings and communal facilities.
