Thinking of extending your home?

A few key things to consider before you start.

• Start with the right question

Before designs, window colours, or speaking to builders…take a step back first.

The most successful extensions start with clear thinking, not drawings.

• What problem are you solving?

Is it:

Lack of space?
Poor layout or flow?
Not enough natural light?
The way the house works day to day?

A good extension should fix a problem, not just add square metres.

• Do you really need an extension?

Could your requirements be met by:

De-cluttering and getting rid of junk?
Reworking the existing layout?
Opening up spaces internally?
Improving light and connections?

Sometimes the best solution isn’t bigger — just better planned.

• How will you use the space?

Think about everyday life:
How do you move through the space?
Where does furniture sit?
Do you need storage or flexibility?
