πŸ“ˆ This week at BNI Business Connect, Matt Davison from Charity Helper delivered his very first 10-minute feature presentation!

Matt introduced us to the Google Ad Grant, which can give eligible charities up to Β£7,500 per month in Google advertising credit to help them reach more people through Google Search and Maps.

It's not Β£7,500 landing in the charity's bank account – but used effectively, that advertising budget can make a real difference.

Matt shared how Charity Helper supports fellow member Together Against Cancer with their Google Ads, helping them achieve an increase of more than 50% in registrations.

While most non-profits are eligible for the grant, applying for it is only the beginning. Managing Google Ads effectively can be complex, which is where Charity Helper comes in. For a simple monthly fee, Matt and the team handle the application and ongoing management, using their digital marketing expertise to make the most of the available advertising credit.

Matt's ask is a simple one: introductions to charities! If you know a charity that isn't already making use of the Google Ad Grant, there could be a significant opportunity they're missing.

Well done on your first feature presentation, Matt! πŸ‘

If you'd like to meet Matt and the rest of our friendly group of local businesses, we'd love to welcome you to BNI Business Connect as a visitor.

πŸ“š BNI Business Connect is on the road today!

Today, a number of our members are joining BNI members from across the East Midlands for the annual Leaders and Roles Training event in Corby.

BNI chapters are run with the help of members who volunteer to take on different roles within the group – from welcoming visitors and supporting new members to organising meetings and helping the chapter grow.

Today's training is all about giving those members the knowledge, ideas and support they need to do those roles well – ultimately helping us create better meetings, stronger relationships and more opportunities for everyone in the chapter.

It's also a fantastic opportunity to meet and network with BNI members from chapters right across the East Midlands. 🀝

We're looking forward to learning plenty, meeting some new faces and bringing lots of ideas back to BNI Business Connect.

And then we'll all be back together for our usual Wednesday morning meeting!

🏑 The numbers speak for themselves!

The other week at BNI Business Connect, Shaun Malin shared a fantastic testimonial for Lee Griffiths and the team at Picker Elliott Sales & Letting Agents.

And being in business, Shaun decided to tell the story through the numbers…

6 days – for Lee to sell Shaun's neighbour's house after it had already spent 9 months on the market with another agent.

3 days – to sell it again when the original buyer disappeared.

12 viewings – booked on Shaun's flat within just 3 days of the listing going live.

6 applications – to rent the property.

But the numbers only tell part of the story. After 21 years of dealing with letting agents, Shaun praised the professional and considerate service he received from Lee and the team, describing the level of interest they generated as something he'd never experienced before.

That's exactly why testimonials are such an important part of BNI. They're real experiences from real customers, helping us understand not just what a business does, but the level of service we can confidently recommend to others. 🀝

A brilliant testimonial for Lee and Picker Elliott – and very well deserved! πŸ‘

πŸ’œ Last week's feature presentation at BNI Business Connect was delivered by Valerie Viot from Together Against Cancer, giving us an insight into the incredible support the charity provides for people affected by cancer.

One thing many of us hadn't appreciated was just how much support is available. Together Against Cancer provides free cancer support for up to three years beyond a person's last procedure, with services including complementary therapies, massage, reflexology, acupuncture, counselling and group activities.

Valerie also shared the personal story behind why the charity means so much to her, along with some of the experiences of people who have benefited from the welcoming and supportive environment they provide.

And there's a big milestone approaching - Together Against Cancer celebrates its 10th anniversary this October! πŸŽ‰

Valerie challenged us to think about how we can help them continue their work. That could be organising a fundraiser, introducing the charity to a business looking for a cause to support, making a regular donation, attending an event or simply sharing their work on social media.

Thank you, Valerie, for a heartfelt and informative presentation, and for showing us the difference Together Against Cancer is making in our community. πŸ‘

πŸ”’ The other week at Business Connect, our feature presentation was delivered by Richard Clark from Secure with L & R, who gave us a fascinating insight into CCTV and how to get it right.

One of Richard's biggest messages was simple: don't just stick your cameras up in the eaves!

It might give you a great view of the top of someone's head, but that's not particularly useful when you actually need to identify them. πŸ‘€

Richard explained how the positioning and choice of cameras can make a huge difference to the quality of a CCTV system, as well as why professionally installed, hard-wired cameras remain an important choice when you want reliable security.

Alongside CCTV, Secure with L&R also provides alarm and security systems for homes and businesses, combining years of experience with a personal approach to designing the right system for each property. They're also SSAIB certificated and NAPIT approved.

Thank you, Richard, for an informative presentation – and for making us all reconsider where our cameras are pointing! πŸ‘

If you'd like to meet trusted local businesses, learn something new and build genuine relationships, we'd love to welcome you to BNI Business Connect as a visitor.

🀝 Recently at Business Connect, Sharon from Kudos Designs and Websites Ltd shared a fantastic testimonial for fellow member Sima Chauhan from Travel with Sima (Not Just Travel).

Sharon admitted she'd never used a personal travel consultant before. Like many people, she'd assumed it would be more expensive - and wondered why she'd ask somebody else to do something she could arrange herself.

As Sharon put it: she was wrong! ✈️

When it came to arranging a ski holiday for five people, Sima kept an eye out for the right deals and found an offer that saved the group Β£746 on their ski passes, as well as helping them avoid a single-person supplement.

But the testimonial wasn't just about the savings. Sharon highlighted Sima's patience, responsiveness and determination to find the right deal - even taking time out of a family trip to make sure they didn't miss the offer.

It's a great example of the trust and relationships that BNI is all about. By getting to know the people behind the businesses, our members can confidently recommend each other based on genuine first-hand experience.

Well done, Sima - some very well-deserved Kudos! πŸ‘

πŸ‘‹ A big welcome to the newest member of BNI Business Connect - Matt Davison from Charity Helper!

Matt joins us in the Digital Marketing seat, specialising in helping charities and non-profit organisations make more of their online presence.

Charity Helper helps eligible non-profits secure the Google Ad Grant - worth up to Β£7,500 per month in Google advertising - and then provides the specialist knowledge needed to manage their digital advertising effectively.

While Charity Helper is a new brand, it's backed by the many years of digital marketing experience behind BBOSS, with a particular focus on understanding the needs of the charity sector.

Matt has actually taken over the seat from Cam, so he's certainly had a good introduction to BNI! πŸ˜„
He's looking forward to building relationships with other local businesses and helping us connect more charities with the support available to them.

And when he's not talking digital marketing, you might find him playing Roundnet - something we're sure we'll hear more about over the coming weeks!

Welcome to BNI Business Connect, Matt. We're really pleased to have you as part of the chapter! πŸ‘

πŸ† Congratulations to this week's TESSA (The Excellent Sixty Second Award) winner, Steve Tempest from Mortgage Advice Bureau - Hinckley!

The Excellent Sixty Second Award celebrates members who deliver a clear, engaging and specific 60-second presentation, helping fellow members understand how they can generate great referrals.

Recognition is one of BNI's Core Values, and we're delighted to recognise Steve's achievement this week.

Steve from Mortgage Advice Bureau helps people find the right mortgage for their circumstances, whether they're buying a home, moving, remortgaging or exploring their options.

Congratulations once again, Steve! Well deserved.

🌟 Congratulations to Sharon Lewin from Kudos Designs and Websites Ltd, our Notable Networker for August! 🌟

This month's award recognises Sharon's outstanding commitment to our BNI Business Connect chapter, after she topped both the Visitor and 1-to-1 charts during July. πŸ‘

For those outside BNI, visitors are an important part of keeping a chapter growing and introducing new businesses to the group, while 1-to-1s are meetings between members where they take the time to really understand each other's businesses, build stronger relationships and learn how they can help one another.

Sharon's efforts across both are a great example of the commitment that makes a successful BNI chapter tick – getting involved, building relationships and helping to grow the wider network.

A very well-deserved Notable Networker award – congratulations, Sharon! πŸŽ‰
