Has anyone noticed just how many people put themselves forward to do property maintenance these days ?
When i started offering my services after moving to the area 5yrs ago, you would get 4 or 5 people respond to a post asking for work to be done. Now, you are up against 20+ people trying to quote for a job.
Luckily, I have a customer base generated that are repeat customers or people recommended by my customers. I'm also slowing down into semi retirement so I can pick & choose what jobs I want to respond to. It's good for the customer to get a better perspective on costs by getting quotes from different people, and we all know the cheapest isn't always the best.
I am a carpenter by trade but after spending 47yrs in the trade, I have a vast experience in many trades. I'm always upfront with anyone that wants decorating, tiling etc, that I'm primarily a chippie but I can do other jobs at a high standard. Also, showing your work on a social media page such as this & community pages, allows the customer to see the services & jobs that you are capable of.
I'm happy to quote for anything that I can comfortably carry out & have plenty of people who i can recommend if I can't do the work, ie plastering, wet trades, electrical etc.
Good luck to all my co tradesmen, there seems an abundance of work currently & hope that all customers are satisfied with their choices.
Have a good weekend π»π
Dave.
