We were one of the 2,210 applications that went to appeal - somehow our eco friendly, retirement proof, sustainable green oak new home to built on pre-developed brown field land ended up in the bin with the other 1818 rejected appeals 🤬

It was a very important day for us yesterday - at midday the planning inspector for our appeal turned up to assess the site.
This event is the final stage in our year long appeal process and now we just have to wait… our fate is in his hands.
There is absolutely nothing else we could or can now do, but we do wish and hope that the inspectorate sees the merit in our beautiful scheme 🤞

Finally, after patiently waiting for 18 weeks since our planning appeal was officially validated (ie it was deemed to be a valid appeal against HDC’s refusal decision) this morning we received the start letter from the Planning Inspectorate - Whoooooop! Whooooop!

… and it ‘should’ take 12 weeks from today’s date - which just happens to also be my birthday 😬

All of our fingers and toes are now firmly crossed 🤞🤞🤞😬😬😬

Dear Alex Rowley MSP
I read your article in the magazine SelfBuild & Design with great interest because your thoughts embody ours - ALL new houses built today and going forwards should be future proofed at point of build, not retrospectively fitted with carbon reducing features later when it’s so much harder.
Frustratingly we have had to go to Appeal against Horsham District Council’s refusal to allow us to build our carbon neutral green oak frame house on infill , pre developed land, designed with 13 eco measures, despite an unprecedented 32 letters of support.
My husband has been a carpenter / builder all his life and his passion for creating beautiful homes in oak is remarkable; building our new carbon neutral home, designed for his retirement years, would be the icing on his cake.

Thank you Rainwater Harvesting Ltd for your recent post highlighting the sever water issues that we have here in the South East of England; hearing the facts from you as well as Natural England makes me feel even more justified in asking my B&B guests (Lancasters Cottage B&B ) to seriously consider how many towels they really need to use during their stay.
It seemed a little dictatorial at first, but I’m delighted to report that most have reacted in a positive way 👍

1000L of domestic fuel was delivered to our house today (which amounted to it now being only a 1/3 full) & it cost us £913!!!!!!!

That's the equivalent price (roughy) for 2 solar panels, installed, including VAT, which would provide us with unlimited energy.

It's mind blowing to think how much money we would save if we get to build our eco home, which has 18 solar panels proposed on the roof.

Here's a thought UK government - if you gave every homeowner in the UK a £1000 grant to install a minimum of two solar panels on their roofs, instead of 'paneling over' agricutltural land, just imagine how much energy could be produced which would reduce our national dependancy on fossil fuels & the need to build more nuclear plants. The footprint of the house is already taking up land, so use the roof of the house for the solar panels & NOT fields

AND....... why isn't it law that all new houses MUST have at least two solar panels on the roof as part of their planning conditions?? That is the optimum time to install them!

It's all very well making it law that an EV charging point must be installed in all new houses, but to all install solar panels by law really would make all electric cars

On the hottest day of the year (Fri 17th June) Horsham District Council thought it was ok to have this fountain running yet they have halted all -submissions based on lack of water in the region (even though we proved for our ) 😡😡😡
