It’s hard to believe autumn has arrived already 🤯🍂. As communities across Brighton & Hove come together to celebrate harvest, it’s also a wonderful opportunity to support local people experiencing homelessness, poverty, and crisis.

Whether through your church, workplace, school, community group, or neighbourhood, organising a harvest collection for Off The Fence is a practical and meaningful way to make a difference right here in our city.

If you'd like to organise a collection, we'd love to hear from you. Together, we can ensure that no one in Brighton & Hove has to face hardship alone.

Why we do what we do ✨

We absolutely love partnering with Cardinal Newman Catholic School and returning to their school community after the summer holidays. Building relationships, creating safe spaces for conversations, and supporting young people on their journeys is a privilege we never take for granted.

Whether it's a listening ear, a place to be heard, or support through life's challenges, we're proud to be alongside students as they learn, grow and thrive. 🧡💜

Yesterday, we enjoyed a fantastic team day together, celebrating the successes of the past year, looking ahead to the future, tackling a not-so-easy quiz, and getting surprisingly competitive over a game of Pictionary! 🎉

It was a wonderful reminder that behind every meal served, every person supported, and every life impacted is a team of dedicated people (some of whom are pictured below ⬇️) working together with a shared purpose.

This month, our Antifreeze Day Centre is currently most in need of:

👖 Joggers (S, M, L)
👟 Trainers/walking shoes (sizes 9-11)
👕 T-shirts (S, M)
👖 Jeans (sizes 30, 32, 34)
🧥 Hoodies (S, M, L)

A donation of good-quality clothing you no longer need could provide warmth, comfort and dignity to someone facing a difficult season. 💙

We're looking for a Trusts and Foundations Fundraising Lead (Maternity Cover) to help secure the funding that enables Off The Fence to support people facing homelessness, poverty, and vulnerability across our city.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced fundraiser to join our team and play a key role in transforming lives and restoring hope.

📍 Remote or Hybrid (Hove-based office)
💼 Full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract
💷 £30,000

Spending time outdoors in our garden provides a calming space for women to relax, connect, and focus on their well-being. And when the sun is shining, our solar-powered water feature comes to life, adding to the peaceful atmosphere and creating a therapeutic environment for all to enjoy. 💜

This week, our team has been in school supporting the staff at Blatchington Mill with their Summer School programme for the new Year 7 cohort.

It has been fantastic to meet over 200 students each day, helping them become familiar with their new surroundings and settle into school life. We have already seen new connections being made and friendships beginning to form, which is always wonderful to witness.

Alongside this, we've also been busy updating our school notice board in preparation for the Open Evening in September.

We look forward to welcoming many more students and families in the coming weeks and wish all our new Year 7s the very best as they get ready to start this exciting new chapter. 😊
